Predicament and reflection

It was another interesting day.

Ruger left after throwing everything into utter chaos, taking the somewhat imposing, somewhat ugly Shadow Servant with him, of course.

Given Tuzel's keen senses, he would probably pin the title of troublemaker on Ruger soon enough.

Ruger walked along cheerfully.

In truth, Stray Hair One knew nothing about ascending to godhood-or at least, not the specifics. Ruger had not told them. The Spirit Fur Followers were absolutely devout, their numbers were certainly vast enough, and their faith power was exceptionally pure. The only thing preventing Stray Hair One from attaining the rank of Demigod was a drawback that was also an advantage he had known about from the beginning. When he first chose a divine domain, decided what sort of god to shape, and settled on the followers, he had already considered how the Spirit Furs' advantages as followers came with disadvantages.

The faith power they could provide was far less than that of human followers, whose souls were powerful, whose thoughts were complex, and whose desires were fierce.

In exchange, Ruger gained the supremely pure faith power that had served him so unfailingly. Leaving aside all the ways he had used it to turn danger into safety, even mixing it into a Fireball Spell would be much harder for Kurt than for him, because Kurt's faith power was not pure enough. And Kurt was already fairly good among Faith Wizards, far better than those who collected faith through the chaos in their territories.

Since he had foreseen this long ago, Ruger did not want that fellow, who could fret until they tied themselves in knots, to know about it. Attaining the rank of Demigod at the Third Ring would be just as good.

Thinking of how the Fuzzies had performed, Ruger scratched his chin.
