Ruger had actually wanted to tell Wizard Dalton beside him that the old patriarch he had dined with a few days ago was already dead. But he could not say it outright, so he could only offer this supremely confident fellow a subtle hint. At least it was true that Normanu Vango could not leave for the time being. Even later, he could only be carried out feetfirst.

Ruger spotted his teacher, and his eyes brightened a little. Dalton, standing some distance away, looked over at his words, saw his expression, and immediately understood.

"Yes, thank you for the reminder. We must not let pointless disputes interfere with his lordship's affairs," Dalton said gratefully. "No matter how they provoke us or test us, once Lord Normanu steps out of his laboratory, all of it will amount to nothing but laughable, shameless antics by a few ugly wretches."

"Oh? You want me to defeat them? By having an Immanuel Vango appear, for instance?" Immanuel asked with a smile.

Ruger's eyes brightened again.

"I look forward to that moment," he said after some thought.

"Of course," Dalton interjected. "These people's insolence, and the prestige the Vango Family lost today, will all be turned around at that moment. They will become laughable clowns. They might even become a family without a Four-Ring Wizard."

Ruger fought down the urge to roll his eyes.

"That sounds rather interesting. I would like to try it too. It seems... he would not do that, but I would like to try," Immanuel said before him. "However, my instincts tell me that I should probably not intervene. This has nothing to do with him, but with certain other circumstances. Still, you need not worry. You are my disciple. Whatever stands in the way, I will keep you safe."
