Crack!
The stone split open, and a handsome young Wizard with a calm expression stepped out. The boulder crashed down behind him, the head on its surface howling in agony.
The youthful-looking Wizard wore a dark red Wizard Robe. Ruger raised his eyebrows slightly, unable to tell what material it was made from. Even the boulder crashing down nearby and raising a cloud of dust failed to make the robe stir.
A soft-skinned fellow, Ruger thought.
"An ugly creature living in a descendant's body only makes himself uglier by showing off a fresh, tender face," said the old man named Darius Vango.
"If you don't care, why come out?" the handsome Duo Ge Savens teased.
"I just wanted to beat you up," the old man said calmly.
As soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly raised his deeply wrinkled hand.
Ruger jolted in alarm, turned, and ran.
Many of the more perceptive Wizards watching from afar also broke into a sprint.
Unprecedented, violent Mental Power unlike anything Ruger had experienced in his life twisted like a hurricane before the old man, gathering in a frenzy.
Ruger had seen stronger, higher-ranked Wizards from a distance, yet none had given him anything close to this sensation of Mental Power. That meant it was not simply spilling out because Darius Vango was agitated, nor was it being exposed as he cast a spell without restraint. The answer was obvious.
This was a spell of Mental Power, one composed purely of mental force, or perhaps an effect produced by several methods working together.
Ruger and his companions were the closest among the spectators, and the first to flee. As transcendents acutely sensitive to Mental Power, they could sense the hurricane already rising in the unseen realm.
For an instant, even his movements lost their
