This, too, was a way of thinking, a choice made from one's own ideals rather than a particular supernatural field. It was interesting, rather like someone who preferred to act according to personal tastes. Make enough choices like that, and they would become that Wizard's path. They would unconsciously study and refine things in that area, making new discoveries with every step forward, until they found themselves immersed in it, devoting the better part of their life's efforts to it.

Yet as Ruger read the spell creator's advice and remarks on perception spells, he felt that this Wizard was more like someone engaged in a particular kind of work.

Moreover, this was probably a Spellbook its creator had voluntarily submitted. During a casual conversation with Green, the Path Seeker had once explained that the more abbreviated entries were generally spells unearthed from ruins and added to the collection, or spells that had spread for some reason but had not been recorded promptly. When a Spellbook contained material beyond the spell itself, apart from insights added by the Knowledge Temple's Transcribers or information that indirectly aided the spell, it was usually content that the submitting Wizard had asked to leave in.

Under ordinary circumstances, the Knowledge Temple would consider such requests and retain some of that content. Some Wizards also used this opportunity to promote their ideals or particular ideas.

As Ruger read the Spellbook for Zan Zemanla's Flame Torrent, he felt that many of this Wizard's ideas had probably been cut. Had everything been included, the Spellbook would likely have been much thicker. The spell's name probably included part of its creator's name, too. Many Wizards did that.

Ruger could sense how proud this Wizard was of his own philosophy.
