"My most loyal servant, have you never seen this thing before?"
Ruger looked at the door. It seemed only slightly larger than his palm.
Had he been in the Cavern World, a tiny door that flickered in and out of sight on a tree would immediately have made him think of a gateway to some Fairy Kingdom.
But things were different now, not just because of the location, but also because of Stray Hair One's reaction.
It was blessed with spirituality, and there were so many Spirit Furs nearby. They should have been the first to discover a gateway to a Fairy Kingdom.
They already possessed some fairy traits, or at least the potential to become fairies.
"I can sense your surprise, my most dependable servant," Ruger said.
"My wise master, please forgive our incompetence." Stray Hair One was still full of astonishment. "Until you pointed it out to me, I hadn't even realized there was anything unusual there. These diligent, good furs have been patrolling here constantly, following two alternating routes they planned, without stopping for even a moment. But, but... none of us discovered it."
Brimming with spirituality as they were, their perception-especially Stray Hair One's-should theoretically have been very keen, whether sensing themselves or the world around them.
Stray Hair One, who had been so confident while guarding its master, suffered a heavy blow.
Ruger could sense that Stray Hair One seemed to be losing confidence in its entire furry self.
He smiled faintly and first waved a hand to put away the patrolling Spirit Furs.
"Don't let your followers sense your lack of confidence, my great God of Spirit Fur," Ruger teased with a smile. "There are far more strange, baffling things in the world of wizards. My most loyal servant, you'll explore them all with
