Background / History
Madame Yellow Springs entered the Yellow Springs Secret Mansion during the previous epoch, before meeting Lu Chen. Although she reportedly gained nothing from the expedition, she could freely pass the Five Sacred Peaks True Form Diagram and the Mystic Talisman Spirit Sealing Divine Ability Forbidden Zone. Her later memories reveal that she explored the mansion extensively, contemplated there for days, and ascended to the Jade Firmament Celestial Palace, where the Ten Directions Ci Guang Buddha Demon Spirit gravely injured her Yang God. She escaped by splitting off part of that Yang God. 730 1572
Her observations within the Secret Mansion appear to have catalyzed the sentience of Canluona's reincarnated spiritual nature into a Demon Spirit. She later left the mansion and resumed ordinary sect activity without revealing her discoveries. 1570 1572 1573
She was once entangled with Great Black Heavenly Buddha Mother Bodhisattva, but secretly prepared an escape from that control. Before the Primordial Demon Sect split, she befriended, treated, and married Lu Chen; through Lu Chen's power, she shattered the Zhaoshen Bronze Mirror, severed her ties to the Buddha Mother, purged her collapsing Demonic Sect Dao foundation, and perfected her “True Seed.” 1578
Lu Chen eventually imprisoned her after her manipulations and demonic corruption escalated. His restrictions left her body dependent on an imposed balance of legal principles; when that balance failed, her health declined irreversibly. 1549 1566 1578
Her research and arrangements beneath Donghua Mountain included the Nine Truths Immortal Palace, landscape screens, a palace mold, preserved experimental subjects, and materials connected to the Divine Lord's Way. These mechanisms continued advancing her designs even in her absence, trapping and directing later intruders—including Yu Ci. 1213 1258 1267 1277
Appearance
Madame Yellow Springs initially presents herself as an elegant, delicate woman with a clear, habitual smile. Once her façade is stripped away, her original appearance and presence are profoundly still, cold, and abyssal. 1549 1567
- Dark, damp hair falls across her forehead when seen in the cold spring. 1549
- Her public manner is graceful, soft-spoken, and frequently smiling. 1549 1550
- During her final physical decline, she appears pale, nearly transparent, exhausted, and wrapped in furs despite warm weather. 1557
- Her true appearance lacks Madam Hua's delicate charm, replacing it with an aura of “profound stillness and chilling depth.” 1567
Personality
Madame Yellow Springs is an exceptionally patient and calculating manipulator. She treats people, factions, systems, and even disasters as resources to be positioned over long periods. Her plans account for contingencies, preserve useful “assets,” and often continue functioning after her apparent defeat. 1213 1258 1578
Her conversational style is calm, intimate, and deliberately provocative. She uses secrets, emotional pressure, and carefully selected advice to destabilize opponents while appearing cooperative. Yu Ci concludes that provoking another person's emotions is one of her central aims in communication. 1550 1551 1552
Her apparent lack of emotion is acquired rather than innate. Her memories were edited and organized to remove or contain emotional content, leaving an unusually detached perspective that records events with meticulous clarity but little visible subjective feeling. 1571 1575
Abilities & Skills
Law Cognition
Madame Yellow Springs observes objects and phenomena by tracing their materials, origins, generative mechanisms, and governing laws. Her cognition is rooted in her Spiritual Pivot Seed rather than ordinary perception. 1576
- Analyzes entities as interconnected processes extending through space and time. 1576
- Identifies malformed or incompatible laws with extreme precision. 1576
- Her method cannot fully analyze Lu Chen, whose mastery of the Nine Celestial Methods made him indistinct to her perception. 1573 1576
- Her observations can become a means of parasitism when others sense or observe her in return. 1804
Spiritual Pivot Seed and Rebirth
Her perfected “True Seed” contains fundamental universal principles and serves as her principal safeguard against destruction. 1578
- The seed is described as immortal and indestructible, though not absolutely unbreakable. 1576
- Supports reincarnation, parasitic possession, and potentially merging with the Dao. 1578
- Retains a mature mechanism of judgment and resistance during Spiritual Pivot transfer. 1576
- Allows her survival after Yu Ci destroys her physical body. 1567 1576
Split Souls and Avatars
Madame Yellow Springs can divide her spiritual existence and distribute herself across multiple vessels or manifestations. 1572 1708 1774
- Escaped the Ten Directions Ci Guang Buddha Demon Spirit by sacrificing a split portion of her Yang God. 1572
- Flower Lady is revealed to be a split soul of Madame Yellow Springs, cultivated by Great Black Heavenly Buddha Mother Bodhisattva for reincarnation. 1708
- Her later state is described as “incarnating into billions,” with numerous relatively independent points and potentially no singular conventional core. 1774 1806
- Yu Ci cannot determine how many avatars she possesses or where they are distributed. 1804
Strategic Manipulation
Madame Yellow Springs excels at judging people, exploiting networks, and turning opponents’ actions into components of her own designs. 1504 1558
- Manipulated Lu Chen, her daughter, and others as parts of experiments. 1578
- Used the Nine Truths Immortal Palace's mold and related research to lure suitable actors into advancing her experiment on heavenly laws. 1258 1277
- Guided Yu Ci's political and military decisions during the Northern Demonic Tribulation. 1553 1554 1557
- Maintained connections through the Buyun Society and other visible and covert resources. 1558
Seven Sacrifices and Five Pillars
She became the central force in the Seven Sacrifices and Five Pillars system after the Great Black Heavenly Buddha Mother Bodhisattva ceased to be its core. 1766 1789
- Imbued the system with an indestructible quality. 1789
- Can parasitize through doctrines and perceptions of herself within the system. 1804
- Her avatars may serve as replacement cores for the system. 1804
- Yu Ci later captured her detected avatars and swallowed the system's core function, shifting its operational center to Equality Heaven. 1804
Equipment / Creations

- Zhaoshen Bronze Mirror research — her schemes and research were tied to the mirror, whose destruction helped her sever former restraints. 1268 1578
- Miao Hua Cult statue — a divine statue connected to Madame Miao's puppet form; Madame Yellow Springs sometimes activated it to display miracles. 1173
Relationships
- Lu Qing — daughter; Lu Qing entrusted Yu Ci with letters and a blood jade intended for her mother. Madame Yellow Springs had previously split her daughter into multiple parts. 730 1194 1567
- Lu Chen — late husband and Donghua True Lord; she treated and married him, then used his power to sever ties with Great Black Heavenly Buddha Mother Bodhisattva. He later imprisoned her. 1549 1578
- Yu Ci — adversary, temporary patron, and later jailer; he used her counsel, prolonged her life, destroyed her body, and attempted to control her Spiritual Pivot transfer. 1552 1557 1567 1772
- Great Black Heavenly Buddha Mother Bodhisattva — former controller and eventual enemy; Madame Yellow Springs escaped her system and later outmaneuvered her. 1578 1735
- Rakshasa Ghost King — regarded Madame Yellow Springs as a more stable partner than Great Black Heavenly Buddha Mother Bodhisattva. 1735
- Murong Qingyan — close associate and intelligence gatherer; Madame Yellow Springs controlled her through unique means but still considered her a variable. 1585 1668
- Flower Lady — her split soul, later manipulated by Great Black Heavenly Buddha Mother Bodhisattva as a reincarnation vessel. 1708
- Lu Ya — former attendant who provided Yu Ci with information about Madame Yellow Springs' household, restrictions, and projects. 1185 1213
- Madame Miao — a former experimental subject whose consciousness dissolved and who was refined into a puppet. 1213
Story Role / Major Arcs
