"Only three left?"
Feng Buzhi gazed at the sky and murmured. Although he only needed to kill two more members of another race to claim the final victory, he felt no particular excitement.
After all, he was a cultivator, while the other members of different races here were merely mortals who had gained a little power.
Suddenly, Feng Buzhi's ears picked up an unusual buzzing sound.
It was a very strange noise. Feng Buzhi turned and scanned his surroundings but couldn't find its source. His Sonar ability could only detect within thirty meters, and it hadn't picked up anything unusual either.
"You damn Monster! Die!!!"
Suddenly, Feng Buzhi spotted a short gnome atop the ruins in front of him—or, more precisely, a gnome girl. She had pointed ears and looked adorable, with a soft, sweet voice.
The piercing roar grew louder. Blood streamed from the gnome girl's eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. Feng Buzhi found himself unable to move, as though something had bound him.
And then...
Boom!!
Feng Buzhi's head exploded. The crimson paths of light in his body went dark, and he fell to the ground.
The gnome girl spat blood repeatedly. The attack she had unleashed had clearly exacted a heavy price, but it had all been worth it.
Using a secret technique, the gnome girl had earlier transformed herself into a stone statue.
From within the statue, she had witnessed the Monster's killing spree firsthand. She didn't recognize the fellow who had transformed into a giant bear, but she knew Tos, the "Eye of Demon Ghost." He was the most outstanding genius of the Black Horn Clan, and the gnome girl believed she had no chance against him.
Yet Tos, after ambushing the Monster with his eye technique, had had his neck crushed by that same Monster.
Afterward, even when the bear-man transformed into a giant bear and unleashed Third Rank power, he still couldn't kill the Monster. He had only managed to break one of the Monster's arms.
Fortunately, her ambush had succeeded.
She had won the Million-Player Battle Royale!
Victory in this Deep Abyss Trial required more than strength. It also required a little luck, as well as a certain mindset and the right tactics.
If the Monster had kept a lower profile and not been so eager to strike, waiting instead for them to attack and wear one another down, then the Monster would have had a very good chance of winning in the end.
The gnome girl smiled as she coughed up blood in pain.
But her smile didn't last long.
"Why hasn't it ended yet? Didn't I win?"
In the gnome girl's view, a figure leaped out of the shadow on the ground.
"Shadow Clan? You despicable Shadow Clan member! Let me find out who you are, and I'll—"
The gnome girl's words abruptly stopped. The Shadow Clan member's dagger had already slit her throat.
Soon, the Shadow Clan member looked puzzled too—the trial still hadn't ended.
Then he saw the headless corpse the gnome girl had just shattered rise to its feet.
The headless corpse changed. Two arms grew from its back, and a new head sprouted beside the shattered one. Its face wore an expression of boundless compassion.
Crimson paths of light spread across its body, and waves of heat rose from Damo.
Even the Shadow Clan assassin, whose nature was taciturn, looked utterly astonished.
Damo rolled his shoulders and looked up at the sky.

"Compassion. So you were the beast hiding in the shadows, while that little girl disguised herself as a statue."
Damo glanced at the Shadow Clan man in front of him and sighed. Then he suddenly sprang forward.
Seeing that things had taken a turn for the worse, the Shadow Clan man immediately slipped into a nearby shadow. Damo's fist didn't slow; it struck the very shadow the man had entered.
The Shadow Clan man then slid out of the shadow, spitting blood. Damo followed up with a punch that smashed his head.
Wiping the blood from his fist, Damo wore a compassionate smile.

The words in the sky changed once again.
The next moment, the dense red mist vanished, and everything around him came into clear view.
Then, pulled by some unseen force, Damo found himself in a room made of flesh and blood.
The room was tangible. It wasn't a room conjured by the Weird, but one made of real flesh and blood.
Soon, a blood-red screen appeared in front of him, its surface filling with rapidly flickering text.

As the screen continued to flicker, a dim light flowed over him. Both the shattered head and the arm bitten off by the giant bear were restored to their original state.
Soon, the two consciousnesses merged again, and Feng Buzhi returned to his normal human appearance.
A black energy orb appeared in front of Feng Buzhi. It was probably the ultimate reward for this Million-Player Battle Royale.
Feng Buzhi reached out to accept the reward, but suddenly heard a faint Eerie Whisper and lowered his hand.
The Eerie Whispers collided with one another, and two lines of blurry text appeared before Feng Buzhi.
[You have obtained a hidden reward] [Give up the reward in front of you, and you may receive one wish worth no more than the reward]
Feng Buzhi raised an eyebrow. "A wish? Can it be anything I want?"
[Your wish cannot exceed the value of the reward]
Feng Buzhi nodded. "I choose the wish."
At Feng Buzhi's words, the black energy orb floating in front of him disappeared, and a new line of text appeared.
[Please make your wish]
Feng Buzhi thought for a moment. "Ten days ago, when I killed Wang Chen, I saw him fall into the Abyss. That Abyss filled me with unease and dread. I've often recalled and thought about what I saw that day, and then I realized that what I saw probably wasn't the true Abyss."
"So, could you let me see the true Abyss?"
[As you wish]
