After returning to Mount Paozu, Goku asked Ye Bai about Cell. Once he had brought Chi-Chi back to Mount Paozu and tidied up the house, he took Gohan to the riverside to fish. After setting up their rods, father and son lay on the riverbank, still maintaining their Super Saiyan forms.
"It's so quiet here!" Gohan said as he looked up at the sky.
"Yeah," Goku replied, lying beside Gohan.
"Dad, I'm really happy."
Goku turned to Gohan and asked, "Why?"
"Because you promised me before that the two of us would go fishing together." Gohan turned to look at Goku.
Goku pushed himself up, looking at Gohan in confusion. "Did we ever make that kind of promise?"
Gohan propped himself up as well and replied, "We did, before we started fighting Vegeta."
Just as Goku was thinking, Krillin happened to descend from the sky. "You still haven't remembered, Goku?"
After saying that, Krillin walked up to Goku and held out his hand. Looking at Krillin's outstretched palm, Goku finally remembered the promise he had made to Gohan a very, very long time ago.
"Oh, right. That was then." Goku looked surprised.
Gohan turned toward the fishing rod. "Ever since then, we've been doing all sorts of training. We never had the chance to come fishing together."
Goku patted Gohan on the back. "I'm really sorry, Gohan!"
Gohan shook his head to show that it was all right. Krillin sat cross-legged beside the father and son as well, saying somewhat dejectedly, "Goku, I'm really sorry. It feels like I can never be of much help to you."
"What's wrong, Krillin? Why are you suddenly acting so distant with me too?" Goku asked.
Gohan poked his head out from the side and comforted him. "Exactly. You're not acting like the usual
