Background / History

Xu Mengyao is the only daughter of Xu Guofeng and Yang Qingyue. Her parents built the Xu Group and transferred its management to her; under her leadership, its reported assets rose from roughly 40–50 billion yuan to 60 billion yuan, with the Xu family holding 51% of its shares. 4

Three years before the main story, Xu Mengyao was drugged. Lin Chen became the father of her daughter, Lin Xiaoqian, rather than the person responsible for drugging her. The incident left Xu Mengyao with lasting psychological trauma and severe discomfort with intimacy. 5 124

Initially believing that she and Lin Chen came from “two different worlds,” Xu Mengyao did not intend to pursue a relationship with him.
