| Latest Model | 540 | Reached 25 m/s. Upgrades included three eyes with ultra-hard eye sockets, harder claws capable of tearing 5 mm iron plate, Flexible Memory Metal armor, improved anti-jamming, 30 tail grenades, and energy-generating outer skin. |
| Third Type | 603 607 | Produced at scale for overseas deployment. It could convert solar energy and, after Lin Chen's Mythical-level manufacturing breakthrough, receive wireless energy within 10 km of a base station or from other units. |
| Modified Third Type | 622 623 | A strengthened Third Type variant with superior materials, defenses, stealth, and anti-jamming. It could share energy and preserve near-field communications under electronic warfare; its overall combat power was stated to be twice that of the original Third Type. |
Background
Lin Chen developed the Mechanical Leopard after Kawad requested a non-humanoid robot with combat capability and voice-command control. He completed the design within three days, while Zhang Yang organized production of the first unit. The initial prototype was built within two days. 442
The first activation was performed remotely through Lin Chen's Smart Glasses after he uploaded the control system. Its smooth, quiet movement and 12 m/s running speed impressed the assembled engineers, who attributed much of its performance to Lin Chen's control program. 443
Following successful testing, the Mechanical Leopards entered mass production for military use. More than one hundred units demonstrated synchronized movement and precise five-row formation at Yang Jianghong's camp. 444 445
Appearance
Mechanical Leopards are leopard-shaped robotic units built for mobility, concealment, and close-quarters combat. Their external details vary by model.
- The original unit had faintly glowing red eyes and soft pads in its paws to reduce footstep noise. 443
- New Model units retained a compact quadrupedal form while incorporating Super Alloy armor and extendable claws. 467 468
- Latest Model units have three eyes rather than two, with ultra-hard alloy protecting the eye sockets. 540
- Flexible Memory Metal allows dents in later models' outer shells to gradually return to their original shape. 540
Abilities & Skills
Mobility and Agility
Mechanical Leopards combine high running speed with agile movement through obstacles and urban environments.
- The initial model reached 12 m/s. 443
- The New Model reached 20 m/s, nearly twice the speed of top human athletes. 468
- The Latest Model reached 25 m/s, improving its ability to pursue targets and evade explosives. 540
- They can operate in groups of three, spread across large areas, and rapidly converge into nine-unit combat teams when one group is attacked. 502 505
- They can carry children at a slow pace for recreational rides. 480
Integrated Combat Systems
Mechanical Leopards are equipped for both ranged and close combat.
- Extendable claws can leave deep marks in steel; later claws can tear through a 5 mm iron plate. 468 540
- A concealed gun barrel inside the mouth can fire rifle ammunition with high accuracy. 468
- New Model units internally carry 20 rifle rounds and prioritize their internal firearms over externally mounted weapons. 468 483
- Certain units can carry external drum magazines containing 100 rounds. 483
- Tail compartments carry specialized grenades; Latest Model units can hold 30 miniature grenades using explosives dozens of times stronger than ordinary explosives. 505 540
- Their claws, ramming force, gunfire, and grenades allow them to engage infantry, fortified positions, and armored targets. 468 623
Armor and Survivability
Their alloy bodies grant major resistance to conventional weapons.
- Rifle fire causes little damage to New Model units, while light sniper rifles cannot destroy them. 468
- Their eyes are a potential weak point, but even if both visible eyes are damaged, nearby units can provide targeting data. 483
- Latest Model eye sockets are reinforced with ultra-hard alloy, reducing this vulnerability. 540
- Third Type units can withstand mortar fragments and limited heavy machine-gun fire without losing combat capability. 623
- Heavy sniper rifles, autocannons, Hellfire missiles, and sufficiently close explosions can destroy them. 468 505 506
Communications and Control
Mechanical Leopards can be commanded directly, remotely, or through Little Bei's centralized network.
- Lin Chen can activate and command units remotely through Smart Glasses connected to their control systems. 443
- At close range, a spoken command heard by one unit can be relayed to nearby units. 444
- Little Bei can control thousands of Mechanical Leopards without human operators. 502
- Their near-field communications resist ordinary electronic jamming and allow neighboring groups to coordinate reinforcements. 443 505
- Modified Third Type units maintain near-field communications even against powerful electronic jamming systems. 623
- When unable to contact a control center, they can enter autonomous response mode and conduct weapon-system self-checks. 517
Energy Systems
Later models can partially sustain themselves without conventional charging.
- Latest Model outer skin converts thermal and light energy into electricity, recovering roughly 10% charge per day in good sunlight. 540
- Third Type units can receive wireless energy within 10 km of an energy base station. 607
- Third Type and Modified Third Type units can replenish one another's energy. 607 622
Self-Destruction
Damaged units can detonate rather than be captured.
- A Mechanical Leopard that loses its ability to resist can self-destruct, damaging nearby vehicles and personnel. 505
- Their self-destruction capability was later described as powerful enough to destroy an entire building, with Lin Chen comparing one test blast to a high-yield cruise missile. 598

Story Role / Major Arcs
Development and Domestic Deployment
The Mechanical Leopard begins as Lin Chen's first major non-humanoid robot product. After private testing, units are displayed to the military and enter mass production, with one hundred completed in two days for Yang Jianghong's urgent order. 442 444 445
Two New Model units make their combat debut against six armed criminals in a building. They withstand gunfire and grenades, eliminate the criminals, and demonstrate the value of the Super Alloy design in high-risk police operations. 468
Four New Model units later fight drug traffickers, killing or capturing 47 opponents. One unit suffers eye damage, while 27 other hits fail to affect the four robots' combat performance. 483
East Sakura Country Crisis
Three thousand Mechanical Leopards arrive in Tojin City during an infected outbreak, deploying in one-thousand three-unit teams and issuing lockdown warnings in Japanese. 502
Under Little Bei's command, the force clears thousands of infected people overnight and also targets extreme anti-China elements. 503 504
When a United States force attempts to jam and capture nearby units, the Mechanical Leopards retaliate. They destroy the jamming vehicle, inflict more than 150 casualties, and force the United States soldiers into close combat to reduce the effectiveness of armed helicopters and Hellfire missiles. 505 506
International Expansion
Four thousand Mechanical Leopards land at Foggy City Port in the Sun Never Sets Empire, then scatter throughout the area, preventing practical airstrikes against the concentrated force. 516 524
Australia permits their deployment around Lin Chen's ports and mines, initially receiving four thousand units while agreeing that the force could later rise to 30,000. The Leopards subsequently eliminate 435 Blood Serpent Gang members who had sabotaged Lin Chen's businesses. 532 533 534
France agrees to purchase 50,000 New Model Mechanical Leopards after returning Chinese cultural relics, with delivery planned in five batches over one year. 528
Third Type Warfare
Lin Chen sends an additional 100,000 Third Type Mechanical Leopards to East Sakura Country in response to the threat of a giant genetic sea organism. 607
Modified Third Type units later fight in a city assault against East Sakura Country's forces. Despite mortar fire, heavy machine guns, and electronic jamming, five thousand attackers kill an estimated 70,000–80,000 enemy soldiers in an hour while losing 1,127 units. 623
