Background

Hiruzen Sarutobi reassigned Jiraiya to reinforce Orochimaru during Konoha's war effort. By this point, Jiraiya was already recognized as Minato Namikaze's teacher and closely monitored his disciple's condition and battlefield reports. 18 24
