Background / History

The Xiao Family was one of Wu Tan City's three great families, alongside the Jia Lie Family and Ao Ba Family. Its markets supplied the bulk of the clan's income, making commercial pressure a direct threat to its survival 47.

When Xiao Lei crippled Jia Lie Family young master Galeo, Gale Bi demanded that the Xiao Family surrender him. Xiao Zhan and the Three Great Elders instead united behind Xiao Lei, refusing even under the threat of war 9. Xiao Lei later provided the family with the Wind Scroll Technique and an Earth Rank cultivation method derived from the clan's Raging Lion Rampant Qi and the Wind Scroll Technique 12 50.

The Jia Lie Family secretly planned to destroy the Xiao Family's markets through alchemist Liu Xi. Xiao Lei learned of the plot and had Ling Kui, a servant left by his purported master, destroy the Jia Lie Family 11 49. When the Ao Ba Family and Master Yan later tried to suppress the Xiao Family's businesses and destroy the clan, Ling Kui exterminated them as well 47 49.

With both rival families gone, the Xiao Family became Wu Tan City's sole dominant clan. It subsequently formed a partnership with the Mittel Auction House, while even the City Lord's Manor treated it with courtesy 52 123.

Xiao Lei later disclosed that the family's ancestors had once been a top-tier Central State force and that outside powers were searching for the Xiao Family. To avoid exposing its location and bloodline, Xiao Zhan and the elders agreed to relocate the clan to the Mystic Realm 124 133. The family transported its cultivation methods, combat skills, and resources through a portal, settling in a residence Xiao Lei recreated after their Wu Tan City estate 133.
