At the bottom of the pit, Goku was pinned solidly against the rock wall by Broly. His back ached where it ground against the stone. He drove his knee upward, using the force to push Broly back half a step, and his shoulder scraped against the rock, tearing open a burning gash.
Broly ignored him. He threw back his head and began wildly pounding at the small patch of gray-white daylight overhead. Each blow shattered the dozens-of-meters-thick ice layer as if it were brittle pastry, sending chunks tumbling down. The opening grew larger with every strike, and broken ice crashed into the water with a rapid series of crackles. Above on the ice field, everyone felt the ice beneath their feet bulge like a boiling pot before collapsing with a thunderous boom, spraying shattered ice several yards high before it rained down in a blinding white sheet.
Then Broly kicked off with both legs and shot straight up through the opening. He slammed onto the ice with a boom that made the entire ice field tremble three times.
Goku climbed up using the rock wall for support, covered in water and blood. The gash on his shoulder was still oozing, but he merely glanced down at it and paid it no mind.
The people on the ice all retreated in unison when they saw that mountain of flesh land. Gohan gritted his teeth and stood at the front, while Piccolo shouted from the bottom of the pit, "Don't go up there!"
Broly spun halfway around after landing. His completely yellow eyes instantly locked onto Goku, who had just climbed out. With a low growl, he lunged forward again.
Frieza had been watching calmly from beside the opening. At that moment, he lightly spoke just two words.
"Broly."
