When the shadows descended, the wind over the ice field suddenly stopped. As soon as it did, seawater surged up through the cracks in the ice, streaming out with a rushing sound that made everyone's skin crawl.
The two shadows sank inch by inch. The ice sheet, dozens of meters thick beneath them, split open down the middle, and the crack slowly crawled outward. For every inch it spread, the hearts of those standing on the ice sank another inch.
The first to land was a short humanoid cat with purple skin. His body was sleek and hairless, his ears long and pointed, and a ring of gold ornaments hung around his neck. His eyelids drooped as though he had not slept, and he yawned from time to time.
A tall figure followed behind him, with blue skin and towering white hair, leaning on a staff. He landed without making a sound, a constant smile on his face. He tapped his staff against the ice and politely nodded at Son Goku and the others.
