Capsule Corporation.
Bulma had just felt a little happy when she saw Son Gohan arrive, only to spot King Piccolo right afterward.
"P-Piccolo?"
Even someone as tough as Bulma was clearly startled by King Piccolo.
Fortunately, Son Gohan spoke first. "Aunt Bulma, Uncle Piccolo and I came to ask if you can build a gravity chamber?"
"A gravity chamber?"
"A special room that can alter Earth's gravity, making living things within that area experience ten or even twenty times the normal gravity?"
"If gravity were raised that high, people would be crushed into meat patties instantly!"
"But it should be more effective for training. Can you make one, Aunt Bulma?"
Seeing Son Gohan's wide eyes, Bulma nearly nodded in agreement right away, but then she noticed King Piccolo beside him.
A thought instinctively arose in her heart.
She leaned close to Son Gohan's ear and asked, "Once it's built, will Piccolo train in there too?"
She had lowered her voice as much as possible, but Piccolo's hearing was simply too sharp.
The green on his face visibly deepened by several shades.
Son Gohan looked up at Piccolo before replying, "Of course. This opponent is very strong. We need Uncle Piccolo to fight, and I'll be training under him too."
"But he's the Great Demon King who's going to bring despair to the world!"
"But the Saiyans are coming first. I heard those Saiyans sell planets. If they win, we might all be sold off..."
By the time Bulma heard this, fear was clearly written across her face.
She nodded unconsciously and said, "I'll work with my dad to build a gravity chamber, but you absolutely have to win!"
"Mm, of course!"
Son Gohan nodded with utmost seriousness, then added, "Then I'll leave the gravity chamber to you, Aunt Bulma!"
Piccolo looked at Bulma, then turned his gaze back to Son Gohan. "Hmph. You'd better prepare yourself too. Before that gravity chamber is finished, I'll train you properly!"
Son Gohan nodded eagerly. Naturally, he knew that training required technique.
Blind training might improve him as well, but it would definitely be nowhere near as effective as training with a martial arts master. And on Earth right now, Uncle Piccolo was one of the very best martial arts masters.
"Wait, Gohan, aren't you going home to have a look?"
Bulma ultimately did not want Gohan training with the Great Demon King, so she tried asking him.
Son Gohan's steps slowed slightly. He did want to go home too. After all, his father was temporarily dead, and only his mother was left at home.
He should have been staying with his mom.
But he understood his mother even better. If he went home, it would greatly delay his training progress.
So he gently shook his head and said, "Mm, I won't be going back for now. Please let her know for me, Aunt Bulma."
As soon as he finished speaking, Piccolo had already picked Gohan up. In an instant, he shot into the sky and vanished beyond Capsule Corporation's detection range.
Bulma watched the two figures in the distance, a strange feeling rising in her heart.
Gohan was vastly different from when she had seen him at Turtle Hermit House that day.
The difference was not in his appearance, but in his soul and temperament!
Back at Turtle Hermit House, little Gohan's eyes had been full of timidity, and he had been cautious in everything he did.
But Gohan was clearly different now. His eyes held confidence and light, and he had his own considerations regarding what he did.
It reminded her of Goku when he was young...
"Looks like losing Goku has helped this kid grow up a lot!"
When Bulma mentioned losing Goku, a trace of sorrow clearly flashed through her eyes. The whole thing still felt very unreal to her.
"Then let's give it a proper try. Maybe after Goku... he could become the second savior?"
Outside West City.
Piccolo and Son Gohan stopped on a stretch of open plains.
Piccolo stood before Son Gohan and said coldly, "From this moment on, hellish special training officially begins. Before that gravity chamber is completed, I'll train you until you're stronger than your father!"
"I couldn't ask for more."
Anticipation appeared in Son Gohan's eyes as well.
"Now... attack me with all your strength!"
Piccolo crossed his arms over his chest, still wearing that arrogant look. That was the bearing of King Piccolo.
"Okay!"
Son Gohan clenched his fists and began gathering his strength.
Though he had never undergone formal training, he at least retained the memories of two lifetimes. He could manage something as simple as throwing a punch.
His feet shifted slightly apart, and his muscles instantly tensed. Tremendous power burst forth from every inch of his skin.
Boom!
A fierce aura exploded outward in an instant.
With Son Gohan at the center, the ground within several yards sank downward, as if it were about to split apart entirely.
Seeing this, King Piccolo's eyes flashed with momentary bewilderment.
The next instant—
The small fist shot out directly. A piercing sonic boom rang out as overwhelming force swept forward.
The bewilderment in King Piccolo's eyes turned to terror, despite his previously cool pose.
He did not even have time to think further. Instinctively pushing off the ground, he shot into the sky like a skyrocketing firework.
Rumble!
As he soared into the air, a violent explosion erupted behind him.
Billowing dust spread outward, threatening to blanket the entire area below.
King Piccolo twisted in midair and saw that everything in the path of the fist wind had been destroyed. A depression stretching dozens of meters could be seen carved across the ground.
At the end of that long depression stood a mountain.
Yet a terrifyingly huge hole had been torn straight through the middle of the once-intact mountain.
It was the sort of project that all kinds of mechs would have needed a long time to complete, yet Son Gohan had accomplished it with a single punch. From here, they could now see the scenery on the other side.
Looking at the scene below, King Piccolo's expression twitched almost imperceptibly.
Not only because the destructive power was terrifying, but because it had been done by an untrained child.
Even someone as powerful as him had felt, in that instant, that the attack was impossible to resist. That was why he had immediately dodged!
"Terr... terrifying!"
Sweat trickled down King Piccolo's forehead as he felt fear beginning to grow within him.
Below, Son Gohan also stared in alarm at the destruction he had caused.
He had known he possessed some strength, but he had never actually put it to use before. Besides, that trash system had not given him any specific stats, so he truly had no idea how strong he was.
"This is my power?"
Son Gohan looked at the distant scene for a long while before finally speaking.
At that moment, King Piccolo landed on the ground again. He had already discarded his weighted cape and hat, and his demeanor was far less composed than it had been at the start.
Even the way he looked at Son Gohan held a hint of wariness.
Still, he was King Piccolo. He quickly calmed down and said, "It's not too bad, but your use of ki is terrible. Let me properly teach you how to fight!"
