The Lookout.
After arranging training for Tien Shinhan and the others, Kami turned his attention back to the lower world.
Every day, he kept an eye on what Piccolo was doing.
However, Piccolo had ways to block him, making his observations unreliable. Fortunately, Piccolo had been too occupied to keep blocking him these past few days, allowing Kami to see a little more.
Watching from the Lookout as Son Gohan and Piccolo traded blows back and forth, he could not help but fall into deep thought.
This child was improving far too quickly.
He had only started training recently, yet he was already making Piccolo struggle to keep up, even showing faint signs of surpassing him.
That level of talent and power was enough to make even him, the God of Earth, feel alarmed.
After all, Piccolo had directly inherited the Demon King's power and talent. Yet even so, the talent he had displayed was nowhere near Gohan's current level!
Son Gohan's talent left even Kami unable to make sense of it.
"Could there be some kind of change when Saiyans breed with Earthlings?"
Kami gripped his staff with both hands, his entire body trembling as he said, "That must be a Super Saiyan..."
"Super Saiyan... Why does that name sound familiar?"
As he muttered the words "Super Saiyan," confusion flashed through his eyes. He seemed to have heard of that concept before.
But perhaps too much time had passed, or perhaps it was because he had split off a part of himself. In any case, he could no longer remember where he had encountered that concept.
After pondering for a while, he ultimately gave up and turned his thoughts toward Piccolo instead.
Because he could sense that Piccolo was completely different from the Demon King of the past.
Though Piccolo was still known as the Demon King, after inheriting his original nature, he was no longer pure evil. Instead, many admirable qualities had emerged within him.
Especially during the time he had spent living with Son Gohan, Piccolo had changed in ways visible to the naked eye.
"Training together might bring about an unexpected change. Keep it up, Gohan and Piccolo!"
Thus, for the first time in history, Kami began looking forward to Piccolo's transformation.
West City, Capsule Corporation.
After a month of work, Bulma had finally built a Gravity Chamber from scratch.
Although she was still somewhat worried about Piccolo, the Demon King, she nevertheless informed them and asked them to come train there.
Meanwhile, after a month of training, both Son Gohan and Piccolo had improved tremendously.
Son Gohan had already possessed exceptional talent, and now he also had a stronger soul. Naturally, he learned even faster, to the point that Piccolo sometimes struggled to adapt.
But precisely because of Gohan's astonishing learning speed, Piccolo himself was also rapidly growing stronger.
Only one month had passed.
Yet Piccolo could feel that his progress had surpassed the total of all his previous improvements.
And that was not all he had gained. During the time he had spent with Son Gohan, he experienced the feeling of being relied upon for the first time. Even his heart, which should have been purely evil, had begun to warm.
But even he had not realized it.
When the two landed at Capsule Corporation, Piccolo still carried himself with that arrogant air.
Son Gohan, on the other hand, walked over familiarly and said, "It's finished already? Thank you so much, Aunt Bulma."
Bulma stared steadily at Gohan. She could see that he had changed again—the childishness on his face had faded, and his whole body seemed a little more hardened.
But he was only four years old!
Thinking of that, she suddenly felt a hint of heartache.
So she gently patted Son Gohan's head and said with a smile, "It's nothing. After all, you two are going to save this world!"
Son Gohan nodded as well. "Don't worry. Uncle Piccolo and I will definitely defeat them."
"Humph!"
Piccolo still had his arms folded, but surprisingly, he did not refute him.
Seeing the way the two got along, Bulma seemed to think of something. A smile appeared on her face as she continued, "Now I'll take you to the Gravity Chamber and explain it to you."
"This Gravity Chamber is calibrated based on Earth's gravity. Its adjustable range is from one to one hundred times gravity. But gravity affects us in terrifying ways, so I suggest you don't try anything too high. Otherwise, you might get crushed into a meat pancake in an instant..."
As she led the two of them to the Gravity Chamber, she explained its structure.
Once they arrived, she demonstrated how to operate it and reminded them of the relevant precautions.
"Then I'll leave this place to you two. Work hard—the task of saving Earth is in your hands!"
Bulma was fired up as she sent the two inside.
Although this was not the first time she had met people who would save the world, this time it was the previous savior's son training alongside the former Demon King. Deep down, she felt a new sense of anticipation.
"Old Son always had the ability to turn enemies into friends. Maybe Gohan inherited that ability too..."
With that thought, she left the Gravity Chamber.
But after walking only a short distance, she seemed to remember something. She stopped and glanced back at the Gravity Chamber, then silently took out a lens-like device—the equipment Raditz had once used to detect battle power levels.
"I wonder how strong their battle power is."
As she spoke, she put on the scouter and pressed the detection button. Various numbers immediately appeared on its display.
"Battle power 1200? That's Piccolo. How is that possible? He's so much stronger than Krillin and Master Roshi?"
"Hmm, battle power 863? This is... Son Gohan's battle power?"
Seeing those two numbers, Bulma's eyes instantly filled with shock. After all, they were vastly different from the battle power levels she had measured before.
Master Roshi's battle power was only 139, while Krillin's was just 206!
But the battle power she had detected now was already 1200—nearly a thousand higher than Krillin's!
This was completely beyond her expectations.
And what surprised her even more was the other battle power.
She guessed the lower one belonged to Son Gohan, but Son Gohan's battle power had already reached 863. That was simply unbelievable.
After all, as far as she knew, Son Gohan had only been training with Piccolo for about a month.
Could his battle power really rise to this extent in so little time?
Then what had Yamcha and Krillin's previous training even been for?
Could the gap between people really be so enormous? Could Son Gohan surpass what others achieved in a lifetime of training in just one month?
"Looks like Son Gohan really is a genius like his dad!"
Fortunately, Bulma did not know much about martial arts. So although the difference in numbers was huge, she was not shocked for long. A relaxed expression returned to her face. "Then there's no problem. Once Goku is revived, father and son will join forces... They'll definitely win!"
Inside the Gravity Chamber.
"Son Gohan, you were the one who suggested coming to the Gravity Chamber. How many times gravity should we use?"
"Let's start with ten times gravity!"
"Hmph. If you can't take it, I won't help you!"
"Yeah, I understand!"
As their conversation ended, the Gravity Chamber officially activated ten times gravity.
In that instant, Son Gohan felt his body grow heavy, as though his entire body were about to sink into the ground.
Whoosh!
A white aura rippled out as Son Gohan clearly powered up to withstand the tenfold gravity.
Although Piccolo's body visibly sank lower on the other side, only his expression changed slightly. His arms remained folded across his chest.
"Hmph, ten times gravity is only this much!"
As Piccolo spoke, he assumed a fighting stance. "Son Gohan, get ready. I'm attacking."
"Yeah, Uncle Piccolo!"
