Kai arrives at Eastern Martial Arts Hall after being hired by Cui Jianhao and his allies to break Pei Shao's supposed hard qigong and Soft Fist. Before Pei learns the truth, Kai has already defeated several hall students in recorded footage. 44

He defeats Dongfang Lie and then swiftly puts down Cui Jianhao when Cui attempts a staged display of heroism. 45 46 Kai's challenge escalates when he threatens that the hall's sign should be removed if no expert can fight him. 46

Pei Shao unsettles Kai by identifying the measured force of both his punch and elbow strike. Exploiting Kai's uncertainty, Pei proposes that a woman from the hall will defeat him after half a day of training; Kai accepts, believing Dongfang Yinyin cannot possibly win. 47 48

Match Against Wang Ziqi

Dongfang Yinyin ultimately withdraws, and Pei Shao sends Wang Ziqi into the arena as a last-minute substitute. Kai initially treats Wang with disdain, but Wang's evasive, unconventional style gradually frustrates him. 55 56
