Before entering Ren Qing's service, Dou Sangu was a wild rat demon drawn to Water Mouth City by his inborn ability to sense “great medicine.” He traveled disguised as a scholar, but his true form was a rat-faced man. His interest in playing children exposed a predatory streak during this period. 35

After being intimidated by Ren Qing and the strange Dao Children around the coffin shop, he accepted Ren Qing as his master. Ren Qing ordered him to discard the demon name Dou Sangu and renamed him Mouse True Person. 47

Ren Qing later enlightened Mouse True Person and the surrounding rat swarm through the Five Elements Immortal Art. Mouse True Person became Ren Qing's third disciple and was placed in charge of the newly named Mouse Children. 51

Ling Weizi relays Three Flowers Lady's warning that continued indiscriminate clan destruction could provoke the Great Yao Court, temporarily halting the campaign.
