Background / History
Harry first notices Zhang San during the Sorting Ceremony and asks how the exchange student knew Hermione Granger would be sorted into Gryffindor. He witnesses Zhang San expose Professor Quirrell as Voldemort's servant, followed by Quirrell killing Zhang with the Killing Curse. 1
After Zhang returns as a ghost and establishes a temple at Hogwarts, Harry eagerly accepts the position of temple attendant alongside Ron Weasley. He helps operate the temple's underground arcade, including selling incense and distributing game tokens. 6 9 12
Zhang's claim that he could help Harry see—or potentially ransom—the souls of James and Lily Potter gives Harry a powerful reason to work for the temple and accumulate incense power. 21
Professor McGonagall recognizes Harry's exceptional natural flying talent after he pursues Neville Longbottom's runaway broom. She subsequently appoints him Gryffindor's Seeker and gives him a Nimbus 2000. 27 28
Harry later becomes the Flying Broom Workshop's sole non-owner employee and test pilot. After testing the Black Bamboo Mark I, he trades his Nimbus 2000 for a speed-type version better suited to a Seeker; Sirius Black reimburses the purchase. 42 43
Appearance
Harry is identified by the scar on his forehead, which aches when Zhang San creates a model of Voldemort. 49
- Wears Gryffindor Quidditch gear while playing as Seeker. 45
- Is depicted by Zhang San in an Auror uniform for the Fight Tom magical-card concept. 49
Personality
Harry is adventurous and competitive. He accepts Draco Malfoy's challenge, defeats him at Street Fighter II, and agrees to a midnight wizard's duel despite Hermione's warnings about the risks. 13 14
He is loyal to Ron and receptive to Zhang San's guidance, whether working at the temple, testing experimental brooms, or learning games and dueling techniques. 6 21 41 50
Harry is primarily motivated by practical, high-intensity pursuits rather than magical research. Zhang identifies him as a natural fighter better suited to wizard duels and Quidditch than difficult technical reading. 50
