Background & History

Chu Ling was used as leverage against her older brother, Chu Hao, during his conflict with the Heaven Dou Imperial Family. Xue Beng held her to destabilize Chu Hao, while Prince Xue Xing later threatened her life to force his surrender. Chu Hao refused to abandon her and negotiated their escape while keeping Xue Beng hostage. 1 8 9

After Chu Hao escaped, Emperor Xue Ye initially considered executing Chu Ling. Qian Renxue intervened, arguing that killing her would provoke Chu Hao and Du Feng; Xue Ye instead placed Chu Ling under Qian Renxue's supervision. Qian Renxue brought her to her residence, where Chu Ling remained for several years. 15 19 133

Her safety remained a concern to Chu Hao's allies. Bibi Dong decided to protect her after learning of Chu Hao's past, and Chu Hao later ordered the recovered Dugu Bo to secretly guard her in the Heaven Dou Empire. 38 61

Xue Ye eventually had Chu Ling summoned from Qian Renxue's residence and imprisoned her in secret. When Chu Hao returned to Heaven Dou City to rescue her, Prince Xue Xing attempted to deceive him with an impostor disguised as Chu Ling. The real Chu Ling was later brought out as a hostage and was revealed to have been poisoned. 116 121

During the palace confrontation, Prince Xue Xing stabbed Chu Ling in the shoulder and threatened to kill her if Chu Hao continued attacking. Refusing to let her brother compromise for her again, Chu Ling turned her neck against Xue Xing's dagger and died by suicide. 124

Chu Ling's soul was preserved when it entered the Hades Sword, then Chu Hao transferred it into his Ancient Tree of Life martial soul for nourishment. To restore her body, he gathered the Snowy Ice Blue Lotus and six Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Bones, including soul bones obtained through the sacrifice of his own right arm and both legs. 125 130 169 171

She was successfully resurrected and awoke reunited with Chu Hao. After obtaining seven soul rings and adapting to her new martial soul, she received recognition from the Goddess of Life and departed to undertake the deity's inheritance trials. 171

Chu Ling was initially described as a small, pitiful girl with silky hair, long eyelashes, and expressive eyes that frequently filled with tears during her captivity. After resurrection, her restored body appeared unchanged to her. 8 9 171
