Background / History
Tang San entered the Star Dou Great Forest with Shrek Academy to acquire soul rings. There, he killed a Man Faced Demon Spider with hidden weapons, only for Chu Hao to arrive and claim the beast for himself. Tang San opposed him and was overwhelmed by Chu Hao's sword techniques. 70 71
When Xiao Wu returned, Tang San fought alongside Shrek to protect her from Chu Hao. He revealed his second martial soul, the Clear Sky Hammer, but was defeated and pinned down. Xiao Wu ultimately remained behind to save the group, while Tang San and the others withdrew. 75 76 78
By the Soul Master Tournament finals, Tang San had become a Soul King. His Blue Silver Grass possessed an optimal yellow-yellow-purple-purple-black ring configuration, while his Clear Sky Hammer carried four ten-thousand-year soul rings. 142
Chu Hao later ambushed Tang San and his companions. Shrek's students, teachers, and Tai Long chose to abandon Tang San to preserve their own lives; Tang Hao intervened before Chu Hao could kill him. 146 147 Tang Hao subsequently trained Tang San in the Clear Sky Sect's techniques and prepared him to obtain higher-level rings and soul bones. 148
Tang San completed Slaughter City's trial in one year, gaining the title God of Slaughter. Learning that Chu Hao had completed the same trial in nine months intensified his determination to surpass him. He then traveled to Sea God Island for further training. 170
On Sea God Island, Tang San undertook the Sea God's Nine Trials. Chu Hao eventually found him during the fourth trial, killed Xiao Bai while pursuing him, and later defeated the Sea God's avatar. 194 195 197
After inheriting the Sea God's divine position, Tang San returned to the mainland at level 100 to avenge Tang Hao and oppose Chu Hao's rule. He was defeated when Chu Hao shattered his Sea God Domain, survived their initial clash through Ring Explosion, and was finally immobilized by the Emperor Seal and pierced through by the Hades Sword. 207
Personality
Tang San is fiercely attached to Xiao Wu and repeatedly risks himself to protect her, including fighting Chu Hao despite a clear gap in strength. 75 76 After Xiao Wu's sacrifice, he is devastated but leaves with Zhao Wuji and the others so that her decision is not wasted. 78
His enmity toward Chu Hao steadily becomes his central motivation. He refuses to accept being inferior to Chu Hao, pursues the Slaughter City and Sea God Island trials to gain power, and returns to the mainland as the Sea God seeking revenge. 170 207
