Hagrid disliked Filch intensely, especially his habit of threatening and intimidating students at the drop of a hat. And Harry and Silvan were the ones he had threatened.

So as soon as Hagrid came over, he waved a hand impatiently. "Your job is done. I'll take over from here."

"I'll come back at dawn to collect their remains." Filch threw out the threat before turning toward the castle.

The moment he left, Malfoy began complaining, insisting that he did not want to enter the forest.

But Hagrid ignored him completely. Even bringing up his father, a school governor, did Malfoy no good.

"You can go back right now," Hagrid said. "If you think your father would rather see you expelled, then go ahead and head back to the castle to pack your things!"

Malfoy did not move. He glared at Hagrid angrily, but soon lowered his gaze and reluctantly followed Hagrid and a black hunting dog into the forest.

"A unicorn has been attacked." Hagrid's voice was heavy. "This is the second time. I found one dead last Wednesday. We need to find it as soon as possible..."

"No, I don't want to go!" Malfoy began backing out again, his voice filled with uncontrollable fear. "What if the thing that hurt the unicorn is still there?"

"As long as you stay with me or Fang, nothing in the Forbidden Forest will hurt you," Hagrid said, then continued explaining what they were supposed to do.

Malfoy looked back at the pitch-black path behind them. In the end, he gave up on turning back and followed them while muttering under his breath.

"Relax. Think of it as camping," Silvan said after a moment, offering him some comfort.
