Although Silvan had not joined them, the Weasley twins still refused to give up and secretly went looking for the Whomping Willow that very night.

Then... there was no then. When Fang found them at dawn, they were both lying on the road between the Whomping Willow and the castle, fast asleep.

One had his head planted against his feet, sprawled face-down in the middle of the road. The other was five hundred meters away, on the south side of the castle, supporting himself with his face while both legs hung from a bush.

It was not hard to tell from those strange positions that they clearly had not chosen to sleep outside.

Hagrid thought so too. After hearing Fang bark, he hurried over and carried them, one in each hand, to the Hospital Wing.

Since it was still dark at the time, not many people knew about it.

His injuries were worse than Fred's. Not only had the Whomping Willow broken several of his bones on the spot, but he had also broken his leg when he fell from the sky afterward.

Madam Pomfrey spent ten minutes setting all his bones before wrapping him tightly in bandages from head to toe.
