What was going on?
Silvan stood there, completely baffled, unable to make sense of the situation.
Dumbledore was not using the Elder Wand. Strictly speaking, it could not even be considered a normal wand.
"Mr. Ollivander, what is it?"
Dumbledore's voice brought Silvan back to his senses.
"Sorry..." Silvan said. He glanced at Dumbledore again, then still could not resist asking, "Professor, your wand..."
"Ah, I knew you would notice." Dumbledore said without looking back. "Yes, it broke. It nearly snapped in two during a battle."
Dumbledore passed through the flames. Just as Silvan was about to follow as before, the flames that had parted closed together again.
"It seems my magic has grown a little rusty. My apologies, Mr. Ollivander. Could I trouble you to wait here for a moment?"
With that, Dumbledore pushed open the door behind the flames.

If he did not want him to see the final chamber, he could have just said so. Rusty magic? Did he take him for a goblin?
It was only Voldemort. Who cared? He had insisted on coming along this time only to see whether he could fulfill the boast he had made earlier.
The one where he had told the unicorn he would find an opportunity to let it take revenge itself.
He had originally planned to have Harry fight in its place, but Fluffy's sudden frenzy had ruined everything midway through.
Now Dumbledore would not even let him watch.
"Can't be helped. I did my best," Silvan quietly told Silver Mane in his hand. "How about you wait a little longer? There will be another chance later."
Silver Mane did not react, so Silvan took that as agreement.
Still, though he had been stopped outside, Silvan caught a vague glimpse of the scene inside
