Silvan had thought Barty Crouch Jr. would become Hogwarts' new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, but he had guessed wrong.

Barty Crouch Jr. was more like a guest—or rather, someone who had come specifically to find someone.

After discovering that the person he was looking for was not in the Great Hall, Barty Crouch Jr. lost all interest in the start-of-term feast.

Alecto Carrow was the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. What was more, she proposed changing the subject to Dark Arts Appreciation, claiming that Hogwarts should learn from the more outstanding Durmstrang Institute.

At Durmstrang, studying the Dark Arts was as normal as studying Charms or Transfiguration.

However, the moment Alecto Carrow raised the idea, McGonagall, Flitwick, and Sprout strongly opposed it.

The three Heads of House made their stance clear. No matter what Durmstrang did, Hogwarts would never teach Dark Arts to any student. If Alecto Carrow insisted on it, they would resign together.

This was clearly not an outcome the Death Eaters wanted. Voldemort appeared to be occupied with something important at the time and did not want to be distracted.

McGonagall, Flitwick, and the others were among the most powerful wizards. If they were determined to cause trouble, even Voldemort would find it troublesome.

So the best solution was to keep them at Hogwarts indirectly by having them teach the students.

Now that McGonagall and the others wanted to resign, there was naturally no way it would be approved.

Thus, Snape vetoed Alecto Carrow's proposal in his capacity as Headmaster of Hogwarts.

After a fierce argument, the two parted on bad terms.

"She's becoming more and more uncontrollable." Snape frowned and said irritably. "I always thought Bellatrix's actions were reckless enough, but I never expected Carrow to be even worse—"
