Chapter 799: Hogwarts at Peace
Alecto Carrow was puzzled. She did not know when it had begun, but the atmosphere in the castle seemed to have suddenly improved. Before, no matter what decision she made, there were always students who were not afraid of death jumping out to oppose her. But recently, those voices seemed to have vanished overnight.
Especially after Halloween, her work at Hogwarts suddenly became much smoother. Not only did no one contradict her during class, but even the usual gossip and complaints had dwindled sharply.
Although some still raised objections to her decisions during class, compared to before, those voices were practically negligible.
And those Slytherins in the patrol squad had not caught anyone breaking the new school rules for an entire week.
At first, Carrow did not believe it was real at all. She summoned the patrol squad members into her office one by one, repeatedly casting revealing spells and vanishing spells on them. Only then did she confirm that they were genuine and not impostors disguised by Gryffindors using Polyjuice Potion.
But that also meant that no one in the castle was truly violating the new school rules anymore.
Carrow was delighted. Though Crabbe had more than once said that this was probably a Gryffindor plot, she did not take it seriously.
"No one can be unafraid of the Dark Lord, Crabbe." On Christmas Eve, Carrow looked at the hulking brute before her and said smugly, "Those Gryffindors merely made the most correct choice. Throwing themselves into the Dark Lord's embrace is the only way to survive. In fact, they should have done so long ago."
Watching the unconcerned Carrow, Crabbe frowned instinctively.
Even Goyle knew those reckless Gryffindor fools could not possibly surrender so easily. Why was Carrow, a veteran Death Eater, so
