Murong Ziyao was born into the Murong Clan of Nine Star Kui Island. Her father was a renowned Murong powerhouse with a top-grade baleful vein, while her mother was a direct daughter of the Huangfu Clan with a top-grade ice-vein manifestation. Ziyao was born with her Niwan Palace already open, granting her exceptional divine sense; the Murong Clan consequently raised her as its most prized descendant and devoted immense resources to her cultivation. 57 90

Spirit Seizing Dharma Assembly

After Xu Yan surpassed her on the Hidden Dragon Jade Rankings, Ziyao competed directly against him in Zone A of the Spirit Seizing Dharma Assembly. Her resentment led her to order Kui Island disciples to interfere with his efforts to seize Spirit Pearls. 113 114 115

Xu Yan transformed into a dragon carp, stole Ziyao’s Qiankun Bag and its collected Spirit Pearls, then refused her demand to return it. Ziyao ultimately withdrew rather than publicly escalate the confrontation. 116 117

Divine Land and Demon Vault

The feud remained known among younger members of Kui Island’s three clans after Xu Yan entered the Divine Land. During a separate plot against Xu Yan at Golden Turtle Sea, Murong Boya ordered that he be captured alive and brought to Kui Island for Ziyao. Ziyao later encountered Xu Yan at Longyao Garden; she appeared more restrained than in earlier years, but their enmity persisted. 120 131 206

Now an Immortal Aperture cultivator, Ziyao arrived with Kui Island disciples at the Nether Province border during an Earth Baleful demon outbreak. She stayed when the border commander called for aid and was among the first to enter the emerging Nether King’s Demon Vault. Within its ancient city, she held the advantage against five Nether Province cultivators at once. She subsequently tried to strike Xu Yan while he faced Jiu Daoyan, but the Jade Pool Saintess intercepted her. 211 214 223 225

In ruins beneath the ancient city, Ziyao attacked Xu Yan where spatial pressure suppressed their Mystic Qi. Their physical contest ended when a Rakshasa Ghost Spider emerged. She descended into an Earth Abyss while Xu Yan fought the beast, only to become trapped near a black tomb coffin that was draining her Geng Metal Qi. Both were pulled inside after Xu Yan collected a rare Ochre Lingzhi. 232 233 234

The aura of the woman buried within the coffin clouded Ziyao’s consciousness and caused her to attack Xu Yan erratically. An ancient remnant soul then attached itself to her body and spoke with him. The soul later restored Ziyao’s consciousness without leaving her a memory of their conversation. After escaping the coffin, Ziyao fled from Xu Yan using her essence blood. 234 235 236 240

Yellow Springs Road

After entering the Yellow Springs Road, Ziyao noticed that her Palace Guarding Cinnabar had disappeared. Her memories of the tomb were indistinct, and she suspected Xu Yan of having taken her chastity. He denied responsibility; she pursued and attacked him, but his denial and her inability to identify another culprit left her shaken. The Jade Pool Saintess, Jiang Beixuan, Chongwu Chun, and Yan Rulong arrived during their fight, and Ziyao withdrew. What happened to the cinnabar was not established. 246 247

She later saw Xu Yan cultivate at an immortal pool and was unsettled by the vitality of his newly strengthened body. She worried that, if he continued advancing, even a perfected Foundation Establishment Path and nine Immortal Aperture turns might not assure her an advantage over him at the coming True Disciple ceremony. 255 256
