Background / History

Mu En initially appears as the elderly man stationed near Shrek Academy’s freshman dormitories. Huo Yuhao treats him respectfully despite his formidable reputation; after Huo Yuhao’s return from the Far North, Mu En notices his unusually powerful spiritual presence without revealing what he has sensed. 4 13

After testing Huo Yuhao’s universal First-Class Battle Armor, Mu En agrees to help promote it and ensure a supply of rare metals. He also offers to secure a set of hundred-thousand-year soul rings and soul bones for Huo Yuhao. During this meeting, he reveals himself as a Limit Douluo and tests Huo Yuhao with his “Reign Over the World” momentum. 20

Impressed by Huo Yuhao’s awakening of the opposing “Equality of All Living Beings” momentum, Mu En publicly names him his successor as Master of the Sea God Pavilion, despite resistance from the pavilion elders. 21

Mu En’s old injury is tied to the Dragon Core: baleful aura from it severely damaged his life origin and drastically reduced his lifespan. He keeps the Dragon Core in reserve for Huo Yuhao, believing Huo Yuhao must reach at least level 60 and possess a hundred-thousand-year soul ring before safely absorbing it. 23

Following Shrek Academy’s tournament victory, Mu En relinquishes the position of Sea God Pavilion Master to Huo Yuhao. 51 He later discloses the condition of his failing life origin to Huo Yuhao, discussing both his approaching death and Shrek Academy’s uncertain future amid threats from the Douluo Three Kingdoms. 52

The green-gold phenomenon created by Huo Yuhao’s natural soul ring slows the deterioration of Mu En’s life origin, potentially extending his remaining life by approximately five years. 54

Mu En is composed and observant. He recognizes Huo Yuhao’s potential early, encourages him without concealing the pressure of leadership, and entrusts him with responsibilities far beyond his age. 20 21
