Background

The Sun Moon Empire is portrayed as a technologically advanced rival to the Douluo Three Kingdoms. Unlike the three kingdoms, which resist Soul Tool development, it concentrates on Soul Tool research and channels highly talented Soul Masters either into rapid cultivation or into becoming elite Soul Engineers. Its technological philosophy remained separate from that of the three kingdoms for thousands of years. 7

It was initially considered an impractical destination for Huo Yuhao: crossing its border was difficult, and he believed Tang San would not tolerate him joining it. 1

Battle Armor Arms Race

The empire wins the first Two-Word Battle Armor auction with a bid of 300 million Gold Soul Coins’ worth of rare metals and Soul Guidance Devices. Its imperial family orders the purchase despite the cost because examining the armor’s performance is strategically valuable. 50

After Huo Yuhao’s Battle Armor gains public prominence, Xu Tianran worries that widespread Battle Armor distribution will erase the empire’s Soul Tool advantage. He responds by planning to strengthen the empire within three years and authorizing the controlled release of eighth-grade Soul Tool blueprints to reinforce its prestige. 69 78

Shrek Exchange Program

Huo Yuhao leads nearly one hundred Shrek students to the Sun Moon Imperial Soul Engineer Academy. The empire’s detection Soul Tools fail to notice their approach, allowing Huo Yuhao to arrive directly at the academy entrance and demonstrate that he can enter imperial territory at will. 79

At the academy, Huo Yuhao suppresses Jing Hongchen with his demigod-level aura, interrupts Jing’s connection to his Soul Tools, and covertly identifies at least thirty suspected Holy Spirit Cult members among the students. 79

The royal family later hosts Huo Yuhao at a banquet, where Xu Tianran attempts to negotiate for Shrek’s support in the coming war. Huo Yuhao maintains Shrek’s neutrality while warning that the academy will oppose any side that begins a war. 87

Conflict and Disarmament

Xu Tianran cooperates with Zhongli Wu in an attempt to retaliate against Soul Engineers who leave the empire. Huo Yuhao attacks Zhongli Wu near the Sun Moon Imperial Palace, forcing Kong Deming to intervene and allow the Evil Soul Masters to retreat from Radiant City. 91

Huo Yuhao later relocates the Hongchen Family’s personnel and resources, then empties Radiant City’s armories. He takes weapons, rare metals, Class 9 Soul Tool shells, military Soul Tools, and even warehouse metalwork, intending to delay the empire’s capacity to wage continental war. 119 120

After stripping a further Soul Tool warehouse, Huo Yuhao estimates that the seized strategic stockpile represents roughly ten years of the empire’s full-capacity production. 123

War and Dissolution

The Sun Moon Empire eventually begins war with the Heaven Dou Empire and annexes it within five years. Its military superiority leaves the Douluo Three Kingdoms struggling to match its forces. 100

Following later continental reforms, the Sun Moon Empire joins with the returning Douluo Three Kingdoms to found the Douluo Federation. The imperial families are abolished, while Sun Moon Soul Guidance Academy receives five permanent Federation seats. 103
