Dao Venerable Shichen's Dao Body stepped slowly out of the void. Hongjun and Lu Renjia looked up at the same time.
Hongjun's expression turned solemn. He hurriedly put away the Whisk and bowed. "Greetings, Dao Venerable Shichen!"
Inside Lu Renjia, his system began blaring warnings:
[Highest warning! Highest warning! Existence exceeds detection limits! Danger level: certain death! Certain death!]
Lu Renjia's face changed drastically. Without even pausing to think, he instinctively tore open the void and plunged inside, fleeing hundreds of trillions of miles in the blink of an eye.
Shichen Dao Body's expression did not change. He waved a hand lightly and spoke four words: "Time Reversal."
The Law of Time began to turn.
Though Lu Renjia had fled an untold distance, he felt everything around him racing backward. He desperately tried to fly forward, only to find he had lost all control.
The next instant, he was back where he had started.
"No... impossible..." Lu Renjia's voice trembled.
His system had fallen into complete disarray, sputtering bursts of garbled static.
"Who... who are you? What did I do wrong?"
Lu Renjia sank into utter despair. Knowing he could not contend with this being, he could only stare at Shichen Dao Body and ask in bitter defiance.
"Neither of us did anything wrong. I'm simply stronger than you!"
Shichen Dao Body raised a hand and pointed. His voice was indifferent. "Perish."
A ray of law-light brushed across Lu Renjia's body.
His cultivation ebbed away like a receding tide: Primordial Origin Golden Immortal, Daluo Golden Immortal... It plummeted all the way to nothing.
His human form regressed into a brown pangolin. At last, he and the system within him dissolved into streams of air and vanished between heaven and earth.
Hongjun stepped forward and bowed. "Dao Venerable."
