Background / History

Transmigration and Birth

Shichen was originally Su Yun, a 28-year-old man from Earth who died in a car accident and awakened inside the cyan egg of the Time Demon God during the Chaos Era. Inheriting Shichen's memories, he learned that Pangu's future Heaven-Opening would slaughter the Chaos Demon Gods, with the Time Demon God expected to be among the first destroyed. He resolved to cultivate relentlessly and change that predetermined ending. 1

While still unhatched, he cultivated the laws of time, absorbing immense Chaos energy until his egg expanded from ten thousand zhang to hundreds of millions of zhang. A mysterious giant eye repeatedly watched his egg, but never intervened. 1

Upon hatching, he could no longer use his former name: the Great Dao's imprint recognized only “Shichen,” the name bound to his origin and the Dao of Time. His birth granted Chaos the concept of time, formed the embryonic River of Time, and produced the Time Origin Bead. 2

Rise in Chaos

Shichen cultivated beneath the Time Origin Bead and became the first known Demon God to reach the Heavenly Dao Realm. When Mingyuan attempted to impose Fate upon him and Yang Mei, Shichen severed his fate-thread, used it to locate Mingyuan, and attacked him. The Great Dao prevented a killing blow, but Shichen still left the Fate Demon God badly beaten. 2 3 4

He and Yang Mei became close through repeated discussions of the Daos of time and space. As the aura of a calamity tribulation spread through Chaos, Shichen began gathering Demon Gods and warning them that Heaven-Opening could destroy them all. 4 6

Shichen later surpassed the Heavenly Dao Realm by understanding that time was not limited to the River of Time's forward flow. He became the Chaos Realm's first titan before Pangu's birth. 7

First Demon God and Heaven-Opening

Pangu challenged Shichen for the highest rank among the Demon Gods immediately after being born in the Chaos Realm. Shichen ultimately defeated him, became the First Demon God, and received the Origin of the Great Dao. 9 12

When Chaos origin degraded and threatened to dissolve the Demon Gods into the Dao, Shichen convened the three thousand Demon Gods in the Time Domain. He supported Hongjun's proposal to use Dao Bodies to bear Heaven-Opening's burden, negotiated the plan directly with the Great Dao, and secured its acceptance by threatening to restart Chaos if necessary. 14 15

During Pangu's Heaven-Opening, Shichen commanded the Demon Gods to release their Dao Bodies, then helped stabilize the newborn Primordial World. Pangu entrusted that world to him after the creation was complete. 17 18

Expansion, Systems, and the Chaos Dao Court

After the Primordial World's creation, Shichen directed the Demon Gods' expansion into external worlds to replenish Chaos's dwindling origin. He and Pangu seized most of Tianyuan Divine World's origin, connected it to the Primordial World, and later used deliberately exposed coordinates to draw further worlds and systems toward their domain. 35 41

Shichen's Dao Body eliminated the system-bearing anomaly Lu Renjia by reversing time, while Shichen and Hongjun also agreed that a Great Calamity was necessary to address the Primordial World's overpopulation. 52

Following the conflict with the God of Systems and the continued integration of external worlds, Shichen restructured the Hall of Gods into the Chaos Dao Court. He opened the barrier between Chaos and the Primordial World, established titles for the Demon Gods, allowed interworld travel, and set merit-based rewards for spreading Dao lineages and discovering worlds. 106

Preparation for the God of Systems

While investigating the Main God Space, Shichen led the World Demon God, Star Demon God, and Seven Luminaries Demon God into its interior and assigned Di Jun to establish the Heavenly Court's first branch temple in Tianyuan Divine World. 111

He later used the Dao of Time to follow a system avatar's Karma trajectory to five great universes and identify a high-grade system with power at the Third Heaven of the Chaos Realm. After the system severed its Karma links to hide, Shichen remained confident that he could still locate it. 113

Rather than immediately confront the God of Systems, Shichen resolved to wait until he was sufficiently prepared. Order, Fate, Karma, Destruction, and the other top Supreme Dao Demon Gods entrusted him with eight Dao traces so that he could refine them for the coming confrontation. 116

Multi-Dao Seclusion and Awakening

To prevent another loss of control to divinity, Shichen devised a safeguard in which countless Dao Bodies would bear separate emotions while his true body retained a fragment of its original heart. He also placed layers of restrictions upon the Heart of Time Origin so that his Dao Wheel could be sealed and his Dao avatars could independently return and merge if necessary. 117

During his seclusion, the laws of time fell silent throughout the myriad worlds, allowing cultivators to experience unstable and controllable time. Order guarded the Time Temple while the other Demon Gods protected Shichen's cultivation. 117

When impostor Demon Gods self-destructed in an effort to interrupt his seclusion, Shichen awakened and stopped time across the entire Chaos World. As First Demon God, he generally leads through preparation and responsibility rather than intimidation. He distributes origin to allies, gives his own Great Dao law origin to heal the Destruction Demon God, and accepts responsibility for the damage he causes during his loss of control. 41 47 70

He deliberately preserved memories of Su Yun because he feared that advancing cultivation would turn him into an emotionless divine being.
