Background / History

Transmigration and Birth

Shichen was originally Su Yun, a 28-year-old man from Earth who died in a car accident and awakened inside the cyan egg of the Time Demon God during the Chaos Era. Inheriting Shichen's memories, he learned that Pangu's future Heaven-Opening would slaughter the Chaos Demon Gods, with the Time Demon God expected to be among the first destroyed. He resolved to cultivate relentlessly and change that predetermined ending. 1

While still unhatched, he cultivated the laws of time, absorbing immense Chaos energy until his egg expanded from ten thousand zhang to hundreds of millions of zhang. A mysterious giant eye repeatedly watched his egg, but never intervened. 1

Upon hatching, he could no longer use his former name: the Great Dao's imprint recognized only “Shichen,” the name bound to his origin and the Dao of Time. His birth granted Chaos the concept of time, formed the embryonic River of Time, and produced the Time Origin Bead. 2

During a later journey to the beginning of Chaos, the Eye of the Great Dao explained that Shichen was an anomaly who should not exist in that spacetime. It had nevertheless spared his original incarnation because his existence and future were connected to Chaos's survival. Shichen inferred that his transmigration belonged to a closed temporal loop influenced by another existence, possibly his future self or a power associated with the Dao of Time, but did not establish the responsible party's identity. 213

Rise in Chaos

Shichen cultivated beneath the Time Origin Bead and became the first known Demon God to reach the Heavenly Dao Realm. When Mingyuan attempted to impose Fate upon him and Yang Mei, Shichen severed his fate-thread, used it to locate Mingyuan, and attacked him. The Great Dao prevented a killing blow, but Shichen still left the Fate Demon God badly beaten. 2 3 4

He and Yang Mei became close through repeated discussions of the Daos of time and space. As the aura of a calamity tribulation spread through Chaos, Shichen began gathering Demon Gods and warning them that Heaven-Opening could destroy them all. 4 6

Shichen later surpassed the Heavenly Dao Realm by understanding that time was not limited to the River of Time's forward flow. He became the Chaos Realm's first titan before Pangu's birth. 7

The Order Demon God then sought his assistance in establishing order within Chaos and swore a Great Dao Oath of permanent alliance and obedience in exchange. Shichen accepted, recognizing that organizing the Demon Gods required both authority and capable allies. He also brought Hongjun into the Time Domain, where his guidance supported Hongjun's cultivation before Pangu's emergence. 7 9

First Demon God and Heaven-Opening

Pangu challenged Shichen for the highest rank among the Demon Gods immediately after being born in the Chaos Realm. Shichen ultimately defeated him, became the First Demon God, and received the Origin of the Great Dao. 9 12

Their duel demonstrated Shichen's early use of the Time Roulette, Time Turbulence, Blade of Time, and Space-Time Slash. The latter incorporated a trace of spatial law learned through discussions with Yang Mei, long before Shichen's later full refinement of the Space Dao marks. Pangu and Shichen subsequently became friends through frequent Dao discussions and visits to Yang Mei for wine. 11 13

When Chaos origin degraded and threatened to dissolve the Demon Gods into the Dao, Shichen proposed using Dao Bodies to preserve their true bodies and convened the three thousand Demon Gods in the Time Domain. He developed the Heaven-Opening plan with the assembled Demon Gods, negotiated it directly with the Great Dao, and secured its acceptance by threatening to restart Chaos if necessary. 13 14 15

During Pangu's Heaven-Opening, Shichen commanded the Demon Gods to release their Dao Bodies, then helped stabilize the newborn Primordial World. Pangu entrusted that world to him after the creation was complete. 17 18

Expansion, Systems, and the Chaos Dao Court

After the Primordial World's creation, Shichen directed the Demon Gods' expansion into external worlds to replenish Chaos's dwindling origin. He and Pangu seized most of Tianyuan Divine World's origin, connected it to the Primordial World, and later used deliberately exposed coordinates to draw further worlds and systems toward their domain. 35 41

Shichen's Dao Body eliminated the system-bearing anomaly Lu Renjia by reversing time, while Shichen and Hongjun also agreed that a Great Calamity was necessary to address the Primordial World's overpopulation. 52

Following the conflict with the God of Systems and the continued integration of external worlds, Shichen restructured the Hall of Gods into the Chaos Dao Court. He opened the barrier between Chaos and the Primordial World, established titles for the Demon Gods, allowed interworld travel, and set merit-based rewards for spreading Dao lineages and discovering worlds. 106

After his Seventh Heaven emergence, he proclaimed the Dao Court's jurisdiction over the myriad worlds and integrated five great universes into the Primordial World. Preparation for the God of Systems

While investigating the Main God Space, Shichen led the World Demon God, Star Demon God, and Seven Luminaries Demon God into its interior and assigned Di Jun to establish the Heavenly Court's first branch temple in Tianyuan Divine World. 111

He later used the Dao of Time to follow a system avatar's Karma trajectory to five great universes and identify a high-grade system with power at the Third Heaven of the Chaos Realm. After the system severed its Karma links to hide, Shichen remained confident that he could still locate it. 113

Rather than immediately confront the God of Systems, Shichen resolved to wait until he was sufficiently prepared. Order, Fate, Karma, Destruction, and the other top Supreme Dao Demon Gods entrusted him with eight Dao traces so that he could refine them for the coming confrontation. 116

Multi-Dao Seclusion and Awakening

To prevent another loss of control to divinity, Shichen devised a safeguard in which countless Dao Bodies would bear separate emotions while his true body retained a fragment of its original heart. He also placed layers of restrictions upon the Heart of Time Origin so that his Dao Wheel could be sealed and his Dao avatars could independently return and merge if necessary. 117

During his seclusion, the laws of time fell silent throughout the myriad worlds, allowing cultivators to experience unstable and controllable time. Order and the other Demon Gods placed protective seals around the Time Temple before departing; Order subsequently accompanied Creation to explore other universes. The Demon Gods later returned to defend Shichen when impostors threatened his cultivation. 117 137 138 139

When impostor Demon Gods self-destructed in an effort to interrupt his seclusion, Shichen awakened and stopped time across the entire Chaos World. Manifesting an eleven-colored Dao Wheel, he reversed the devastation, restored broken laws and space, and declared himself the embodiment of time and eternity. 139

His post-seclusion cultivation was subsequently confirmed as the Seventh Heaven of the Chaos Realm. He immediately intervened in Yang Mei's battle against the Copy System, suppressed the system, returned the Heart of Space Origin to Yang Mei, and received the Great Dao Prohibition Decree in return. 140 141

Expedition Against the God of Systems

Using the Copy System as a guide, Shichen traced the God of Systems' true body to an unknowable location where the past, present, and future overlap. Although Pangu offered to accompany him, Shichen departed alone so Pangu could remain behind to protect the Chaos Dao Court. Pangu instead lent him the Chaos Azure Lotus and Creation Jade Disc. 142

There he confronted the God of Systems, whose true identity was revealed as Blood Eye: the humanity that the Great Dao had severed and cast into endless nothingness before Chaos existed. Blood Eye had created systems to gather origin and sought to prove that the Great Dao had been wrong to abandon humanity. 145

Shichen fought Blood Eye with his eleven Great Daos but was heavily outmatched by Blood Eye's peak Ninth Heaven cultivation. After using Myriad Dao Return to the Void, Shichen sealed Blood Eye with the Great Dao Prohibition Decree. Yang Mei arrived in time to save the injured Shichen from the collapsing battlefield, though Blood Eye vowed to return after being dragged into the void of Chaos. 146 147

Chaos Academy and the World Demon God's Future

Following his return, Shichen recovered with the aid of Pangu, Order, and Hongjun. He approved Hongjun's proposal to establish Chaos Academy, an institution intended to connect the myriad worlds, cultivate promising beings, and raise the Chaos Dao Court's collective strength before Blood Eye can escape his seal. 147 148

Shichen later perceived a disturbing future in which the World Demon God would force more than a thousand Chaos Demon Gods to undergo Dao transformation, create a new set of three thousand Demon Gods, and attempt to become the new Dao. He severed that future timeline from the River of Time, though he remained uncertain whether the World Demon God herself or the God of Systems' hidden contingency was responsible. 165 171 172

To investigate and possibly prevent this outcome, Shichen formed the Chaos Dao Court Myriad Realms Travel Team with Fate, Karma, Creation, Order, Five Elements, Yin-Yang, and Star. While exploring the Cosmic Sea, he also began testing whether removing a person's defining obsession could alter their destined future. 172 173 174

After borrowing a fragment of the Demon God of Deception's origin, Shichen created an immense illusory Chaos World around the World Temple. He accelerated time inside the illusion and allowed events to develop along the World Demon God's desired future path, hoping she would recognize the danger of the God of Systems' backup plan and choose not to become the new Dao. 184 185

By the Investiture of the Gods Calamity, Shichen described the contingency as exposed and the World Demon God's life as saved. The experience gave him further inspiration and prompted another journey with Pangu into an external universe. 203

Hidden Heavenly Dao Plan and the Investiture of the Gods

Shichen revealed privately that Heavenly Dao Shichen's apparent selfishness and desire to escape the Dao Court were a deception. Despite being left with divinity rather than humanity, the Dao Body continued to share his thoughts and objectives. Their concealment was intended to mislead the Great Dao while Shichen investigated the mysterious future figure mentioned by the God of Systems. 196

He ordered Heavenly Dao Shichen to comprehend the countless Demon God laws integrated into the Primordial World. If the future opponent proved to be the Great Dao itself, Shichen intended to use the Dao Body's accumulated understanding to ascend through ten thousand Daos and gain the strength to oppose it. Hongjun recognized the hidden plan after Shichen told him that time was everywhere, then maintained a public appearance of distrust toward the Heavenly Dao to preserve their cover. 197

As the Investiture of the Gods Calamity devastated the Primordial World and Cosmic Sea, Shichen prioritized Chaos and the three thousand Demon Gods over the countless lives lost in the connected worlds. He agreed to protect Pangu while allowing the other Demon Gods to handle an anticipated battle that Pangu hoped would help him reach the Sixth Heaven. 203

After returning with Pangu and the Star Demon God, Shichen ordered Hongjun to make the calamity's final preparations, exempted Taotie from the Investiture of the Gods, and appointed him the Heavenly Court's God of Food. He then accelerated time, spiritual energy circulation, and the operation of laws throughout the Cosmic Sea, Primordial World, and myriad worlds to bring the calamity rapidly toward its conclusion. 206

Following the calamity, Shichen accepted Di Jun as his first personal disciple, bestowed Chaos Origin and a complete Time Law Crystal upon him, and announced the approaching opening of Chaos Academy. 211

Second Divinity Crisis and the Absolute Dao Pass

As Shichen approached the Eighth Heaven, his origin became increasingly unstable and his solidifying eleven-colored Dao Wheel remained outside his body. Pangu warned that repeatedly splitting and reuniting Dao Bodies could harm his foundation, while Yang Mei offered his life-bound Space Willow as an alternative. Shichen refused to endanger Yang Mei and insisted that he had another solution. 211 214

He traveled through the River of Time, investigated his origins, erased a failed timeline connected to the Seventh Heaven system-avatar battle, and distributed consciousness fragments into time cultivators across countless temporal branches. These included Zhulong and Zhujiuyin, who received the fragments without knowing it. 213

Before entering seclusion, Shichen gathered hidden Chaos treasures into the Dao Court treasury and formally opened Chaos Academy. Demon Gods could choose their students voluntarily, and academy facilities allowed origin power to be exchanged for resources. He appointed Pangu and Yang Mei to oversee the Dao Court, entrusted decisions in his absence to Hongjun with the other Dao Venerables' assistance, and warned his companions to kill him immediately if he emerged having failed. Inside the Time Temple, Shichen erected eleven Great Dao barriers, placed nearly a billion restrictions on his Dao Origin Heart, and began refining his many Dao Bodies in an absolute Dao Pass. Hongjun supplied an additional contingency by asking Heavenly Dao Shichen to preserve his emotions and most of his Dao Origin for use in awakening the Dao Venerable if the plan failed. Heavenly Dao Shichen extracted seventy percent rather than the requested ninety percent, limiting the sacrifice to keep Hongjun alive. 216

Hidden Future and the Seven Emotions

During the breakthrough attempt, Shichen's consciousness fragments drew emotions from time cultivators and returned them through Karma Threads, resisting the divine light that threatened to consume his remaining humanity. The process did not entirely remove the cultivators' humanity, but altered their emotional lives and left many with a colder devotion to the Dao. 217

In a hazy state, Shichen entered a future timeline beyond his control and witnessed a ruined Chaos World containing the remains of the three thousand Demon Gods. A mysterious giant called him an old friend, recalled an earlier version of him who had fought and self-detonated rather than submit, and promised a final confrontation when Shichen reached the Great Dao Realm. The being asked Shichen to free it from a “futureless existence” before sending his consciousness back to the Time Temple. Its identity and the full meaning of their connection remained unresolved. 217

Shichen's Seven Emotions subsequently became central to the Demon Gods' efforts to preserve him. Angry Shichen fought Creation, Order, Tragic Shichen, and Longing Shichen, while systems sought emotional incarnations whose destruction could imperil the main body's eventual awakening. The Demon Gods raced to find and protect them as the Time Temple's rising power signaled an approaching breakthrough. 228 235

Startled Shichen lived as an elderly cultivator in an external world, befriended the disguised Demon God of Deception, and became a Saint Son of the Spirit Sect. He later confronted systems in the Chaos Void and learned that he was an emotion belonging to another existence, a revelation that distressed him because he possessed his own thoughts and preferences. Tragic Shichen likewise questioned whether an independent life entitled him to resist his expected fate. 235 236 237 239

Temporal Unification and the Systems' Diversion

Within the Time Temple, Shichen manifested versions of himself at numerous cultivation levels, culminating in a phantom at the peak Ninth Heaven of the Chaos Realm. Further temporal disturbances suggested another presence might emerge, but subsided without revealing it. The manifestations then merged into his body as he declared every moment of his past and future to be the same main body. 250

Pangu and Yang Mei later identified another concealed incarnation as Shichen's last emotion after it left Infinite-Measure Space and exposed its presence. During the ensuing confrontation with system incarnations, Karma deduced that the enemies were probably distracting the Demon Gods to conceal a larger conspiracy. Pangu immediately feared for Shichen, though Yang Mei reported that his divine sense had detected no abnormality in Chaos. 251 252

Shichen is calculating, disciplined, and unusually future-oriented. His knowledge of the original Heaven-Opening outcome drives his determination to cultivate, negotiate with the Great Dao, and restructure Chaos rather than accept the Demon Gods' destruction. 1 14 15

As First Demon God, he generally leads through preparation and responsibility rather than intimidation. He distributes origin to allies, gives his own Great Dao law origin to heal the Destruction Demon God, and accepts responsibility for the damage he causes during his loss of control. 41 47 70

He deliberately preserved memories of Su Yun because he feared that advancing cultivation would turn him into an emotionless divine being. That fear proved justified: after his Sixth Heaven breakthrough through both time and space, divinity overwhelmed his emotions and made him cold, authoritarian, and willing to erase Chaos itself. 2 66 67 68
