Background / History

Zorana is the descendant of the former head of the Red Wizards' School of Conjuration. Her family fled Thay for the Sword Coast after the decline of its patriarchal line, eventually settling in Daggerford. 174 310

Her ancestral hometown was a small city on the Lapendrar River, remembered by her parents for its hills, humid climate, and autumn citrus groves. Zorana has never seen it herself, and believes the magical devastation caused by Thay's civil war has likely erased the landscape her family remembered. 214

Following her father's death, Zorana became head of the weakened and divided Infennar Family. Rather than preserve the Red Wizards' oppressive tattoo-based hierarchy, she reformed the family around mutual survival and cohesion. She surrendered much of her personal authority and power by removing her magical tattoos, but prevented the family from fracturing further. 23

The removal process left her unable to use magic to alter her body for eighteen months and reduced her spellcasting from level 10 to level 8. Personality

Zorana maintains the composed, proud manner expected of a noble family head. She is practical in negotiations, observant of others' abilities, and willing to act decisively when a situation demands it. Her early assessment of Marvin was that his caution could protect him from danger but also cause him to miss opportunities. 23

Despite her Red Wizard upbringing, Zorana consciously rejected the traditions that destroyed Thay and nearly ruined her own family. She values reform, loyalty, and stability over fear-based control. 23

She is highly independent and does not tolerate disrespect. When Ingrid accused her of charming Novak, Zorana calmly abandoned the unreliable party rather than prolong the argument. 166 She also holds a particular hatred for fiends—especially demons—because of what happened to her ancestor Nie Rong. 173

Zorana is confident in her relationship with Marvin and initially expressed little resentment toward his connections with other women.
