Background / History

Fu Qing began as a poorly resourced rogue cultivator. By the time he encountered Ye Xiu, he had saved only four or five hundred spirit stones despite cultivating for years, making the thousand-spirit-stone cost of joining a major sect unattainable. 72

Desperate for an opportunity to enter the inner sect, Fu Qing betrayed his companions to an Artifact Refining Pavilion disciple. The disciple killed the companions anyway and prepared to torture Fu Qing, only for Ye Xiu to intervene in strange armor and save him. 71

Rather than accept Fu Qing's identity token, Ye Xiu forced him into a spirit contract requiring repayment of 3,500 spirit stones. Fu Qing accepted because refusing a stronger cultivator seemed even more dangerous, though the debt could bind his clan even after his death. 72

Appearance

Fu Qing retains a youthful appearance despite years of advancement, but carries himself with the steadiness and authority of an established cultivator. 274

  • Usually appears in practical combat attire while acting as Divine Armory's representative. 280
  • Uses white exoskeleton armor when enforcing Azure Prefecture City's laws. 418
  • His appearance changed upon entering the mystic realm, though Ye Xiu still recognized him by his spiritual-energy fluctuations. 357

Personality

Fu Qing is defined by stubborn integrity and loyalty. During the advancement trial, he refused to abandon his assigned mountain-ravine post to seize identity plaques, insisting that an agreement must be fulfilled completely rather than merely observed in wording. 81 His reliability, rather than exceptional talent, is what first earned Ye Xiu's trust. 81

He is also disciplined, blunt, and willing to confront those under his command. When Divine Armory disciples secretly resold firearms, he treated their actions as a threat to the entire organization rather than a private profit-seeking scheme. 126 His adherence to rules later became central to his reputation in Azure Prefecture City. 388

Fu Qing initially develops idealistic ambitions after gaining power, particularly a desire to arm mortals against cultivator oppression. The ensuing violence and internal struggles force him to confront the cost of acting without sufficient strength, resources, or understanding. 276 277 He remains loyal to Ye Xiu afterward, even when Ye Xiu's ruthlessness conflicts with his own values. 278

Abilities & Skills

Cultivation

Fu Qing rose from an ordinary rogue cultivator to a Core Formation cultivator despite being regarded as only moderately talented. 181 274
