Background

Su Jue was born into a troubled household in Sky City. His father, Su Lin, became an abusive alcoholic and gambler, while his mother became deaf and mute after an illness worsened into organ failure. Su Jue himself developed an incurable, curse-like condition that progressively destroyed his body and shortened his lifespan. 4 5 6

After the Honkai catastrophe began, the Theater of Domination chose Su Jue as the world's first Herrscher of a Thousand. Rather than treating the Authority as a blessing, he regarded becoming a Herrscher as bitter, exhausting, and inseparable from schemes imposed by Honkai. 6

He spent two months arranging his first encounter with Kiana in Sky City. Though he initially intended to manipulate her into becoming a weapon against humanity, his repeated acts of care and his growing emotional attachment to her complicated that plan. 6 14 25

Appearance

Su Jue is a physically frail young man with gray eyes. His illness leaves him prone to exhaustion, coughing fits, blood loss, and severe Honkai-related deterioration.

Su Jue is calculating, theatrical, and habitually manipulative. He views people, organizations, and public sentiment as pieces in elaborate performances, using false identities and carefully staged incidents to redirect conflicts between Schicksal, World Serpent, and Anti-Entropy. 14 21 34

Despite his ruthlessness, he retains considerable empathy. He willingly experiences the despair of prospective puppets to understand them, helps Jian Yun recover from suicide and isolation, and repeatedly protects Kiana even when doing so undermines his own plans. 7 8 10 28

His greatest contradiction is Kiana. Su Jue repeatedly insists that she is only a weapon, yet his attachment to her clouds his judgment, makes him hesitate, and motivates major parts of his actions. 25 34 47
