The setting sun was like blood, dyeing the Valley of the End a mournful, gorgeous red. The rushing waterfall thundered endlessly between the statues of Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju, its spray glittering beneath the sunset like blood-red diamonds. Obito stood alone atop Madara Uchiha's statue, the black Akatsuki Organization robe with red clouds snapping in the wind, his lone eye beneath the mask staring like an abyss at the distant Hidden Leaf Village, which was coming back to life.
"What a... sickeningly touching scene." His voice came through the mask, carrying a deliberately crafted flippancy, but if one listened closely, they could hear the suppressed tremor within it. "For those empty, illusory bonds, they could even cast aside power like the Rinnegan so easily. Human emotion really is the frailest shackle."
Ling's Sharingan locked onto that solitary figure in an instant, the twin tomoe glowing a dangerous red in the twilight. The system's alarm rang sharply in his mind, and an unprecedented sense of crisis enveloped his entire body:
[High-intensity space-time ninjutsu fluctuations detected] [Target identity confirmed: Obito Uchiha (mental state extremely unstable)] [Threat level: beyond Kage level. Immediate evacuation recommended]
"Who exactly are you?" Kakashi asked in a low voice, the kunai in his hand glinting coldly under the setting sun. Though he struggled to maintain his composure, his faintly trembling fingertips exposed the turmoil in his heart.
Obito gave a chuckle that could not be read, his fingers slowly brushing over the mask. "You want to know that badly, Kakashi?" His voice suddenly deepened. "Then let me show you. The ghost you abandoned beneath the abyss..."
When that face, at once familiar and strange, was revealed from beneath the mask, Kakashi froze in place as though struck by lightning. The Sharingan in that lone eye slowly rotated, producing an eerie resonance with the Sharingan in Kakashi's left eye.
"No... impossible..." Kakashi's voice came out in pieces, as if every word tore at his soul. "Obito... you were clearly already... I saw it with my own eyes..."
"Died beneath the boulder at Kannabi Bridge?" Obito finished for him, the corner of his mouth curving into a twisted arc. "Yeah. The Obito Uchiha who believed in the Will of Fire and dreamed of becoming Hokage really did die."
His gaze swept over everyone like an icy blade, finally stopping on Ling. "The me standing here now is the savior who will bring true ending to this hypocritical world."
Ling could feel that beneath Obito's seemingly calm exterior, there surged a madness and despair powerful enough to devour everything. The system's analysis data refreshed like a waterfall:
[Target emotional state: extremely unstable. Self-destructive tendencies present] [Chakra nature: filled with hatred and distortion. Resonating with the Ten-Tails] [Ability assessment: has surpassed conventional Kage level. Danger level continuously rising]
"The Eye of the Moon Plan..." Obito spread his arms, as if to embrace the entire blood-colored sky. "Let the whole world sink into an eternal dream, with no war, no loss, no pain... That is true peace!"
"Have you lost your mind?" Tsunade snapped, the mark of the Strength of a Hundred Technique shining on her forehead. "That isn't peace at all. It's just a scam that turns all humanity into walking corpses!"
Obito's smile became hideous and terrifying. "Then what has reality ever given us? Rin's death, Teacher Minato's sacrifice, and war without end..."
When Rin's name was mentioned, Kakashi visibly trembled, and a pain that cut to the bone flashed through that Sharingan. Ling keenly noticed that Obito's gaze had never left Kakashi. In that look, hatred, longing, and a trace of expectation even he himself was unwilling to admit were intertwined.
"It's time to end all this." Obito began forming hand seals, every movement carrying the weight of final resolve. "Though Nagato betrayed the plan, the Eye of the Moon Plan must continue! To create a world... with Rin in it."
The Gedo Statue suddenly let out a heaven-shaking roar, its voice containing power that could destroy heaven and earth. The power that had just calmed began to stir again. Obito was actually forcing the Ten-Tails' revival on his own!
"We have to stop him!" Jiraiya shouted, senjutsu chakra erupting at full force, the frog-shadow markings on his face looking especially grave.
But Obito's figure suddenly turned illusory, and every attack passed through him like a phantom, striking nothing. The power of Kamui made it seem as if he existed in another dimension.
"It's useless." Obito's voice came from every direction, carrying a suffocating pressure. "Before the power of Kamui, your attacks mean nothing."
Ling's Sharingan spun rapidly. With the system's assistance, he saw details ordinary people could not perceive—at the instant Obito used Kamui, his body would undergo an extremely brief process of materialization!
"Teacher Kakashi!" Ling shouted, his voice echoing through the gorge. "The instant he attacks, that's the only chance!"
Kakashi understood at once. The light of Lightning Cutter shone again, and that piercing birdsong seemed to speak of the torment in his heart. The instant Obito launched his attack, the flow of time seemed to slow. Kakashi's Lightning Cutter and Ling's Flying Thunder God arrived at the same time like two meteors!
"Squelch!"
Blood splashed beneath the setting sun. Obito stared in disbelief at the Lightning Cutter piercing through his chest. But what shocked him even more were the words Ling spoke immediately after:
"Using the lives and dreams of countless people as offerings, using the destruction of the entire world as the price... Is this how you intend to console Rin, Senior Obito?"
Obito's body trembled violently, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth. "You... how do you know Rin... who exactly are you..."
"I know far more than you imagine." Ling's Sharingan looked straight at Obito, as though seeing through to the deepest wounds of his soul. "I know the despair you felt beneath Kannabi Bridge, I know the pain of you carving stone statues day and night in that cave, and I know even more... that all of this was a conspiracy meticulously designed by Madara Uchiha!"
At that moment, the system database opened completely. The truth about Madara Uchiha, Black Zetsu, and the Infinite Tsukuyomi flooded into Ling's mind like a tide. Those secrets buried for a thousand years now stabbed like sharp swords at Obito's final psychological defense.
"You said... what?" Obito's expression began to collapse, confusion appearing in that lone eye for the first time. "Madara, he..."
"Madara Uchiha never died at all!" Ling's voice rang through the valley, every word hammering Obito's heart like a heavy blow. "He used your pain and turned you into a pawn to realize his ambitions! Even Rin's death was a conspiracy he carefully arranged to make you fall into darkness!"
"No... impossible..." Obito fell to his knees, the face beneath the mask twisting in pain. "You're lying... Rin, she..."
Just then, a voice as cold and sinister as if it came from the depths of hell rose from underground:
"What a... talkative brat."
A black figure slowly rose. It was Black Zetsu, the one who had plotted for a thousand years! A malicious light flickered in his yellow eyes.
"Obito, don't be deceived by them." Black Zetsu's voice carried a bewitching power. "Complete the Eye of the Moon Plan, and you can reunite with Rin in the eternal dream... That is your true salvation..."
But wavering had already appeared in Obito's eyes. He looked at Kakashi, at this once-best friend and now most painful enemy, and those memories he had deliberately forgotten began to awaken like a rising tide. Every little moment with Team 7, Rin Nohara's warm smile, and the self who had once been filled with hope...
"Kakashi..." Obito's voice was choked with sobs, and bloody tears actually streamed from that lone eye. "I..."
Suddenly, another change occurred! Black Zetsu plunged into Obito's body and forcibly seized control of him. Pain and struggle surfaced on Obito's face, but soon it turned numb.
"Since you've wavered, I'll personally complete Lord Madara's plan!"
Under Black Zetsu's control, Obito began forming hand seals madly. The Gedo Statue's power was fully awakened, and the Ten-Tails' revival was already unavoidable! The moon in the sky began to turn a bizarre blood-red, and countless rays of light descended like chains.
"It's too late..." Ling gritted his teeth as he watched this apocalyptic sight, the kunai in his hand hanging weakly down. "The Infinite Tsukuyomi... is about to begin..."
