The morning sun slowly rose from the horizon, dyeing the battlefield of the Valley of the End a warm gold. After a night of life-and-death slaughter, the ninjas of the Hidden Leaf Village stood amid the ruins and looked up at the sky as it gradually returned to normal, their eyes filled with the dazed disbelief of those who had survived a disaster.
Ling sat wearily on a mostly intact boulder. His Rinne Sharingan had already reverted to the form of an ordinary Sharingan, but the Six Paths Power, vast as the might of heaven and earth, still flowed slowly through his body. He could clearly feel that this power was different from every ninjutsu he had used before—it seemed to have merged with nature itself, letting him sense the pulse of life within dozens of miles with every breath.
"You did it." Tsunade walked to his side. The traces of the Strength of a Hundred Technique were slowly fading from her forehead, and in the eyes of this Hokage, who had always been known for her toughness, rare fatigue and relief now showed. "You saved the entire ninja world."
"Not by myself." Ling shook his head, his gaze sweeping over everyone present—Kakashi silently wiped his kunai, Jiraiya leaned against a nearby rock and panted, Naruto was excitedly describing that earth-shaking battle to their awakened companions, and Sakura was busy moving among the wounded.
His gaze finally stopped on the place where Obito had vanished. All that remained there was a small handful of ashes scattering in the wind, and a ninja forehead protector that had lost its luster.
Kakashi walked over in silence and bent down to pick up the forehead protector. The edge of the damaged leaf symbol was worn, and a few dried bloodstains still remained on the metal surface. He gripped the forehead protector tightly in his hand, complicated emotions churning in his single eye—grief, release, nostalgia, and a trace of the relief that came with finally letting go.
"He will be recorded in the history of the Hidden Leaf Village as a hero," Tsunade said softly. "Though... in this way."
Kakashi nodded and carefully placed the forehead protector in the deepest part of his ninja tool pouch, as if it were some fragile treasure.
Just then, the system's prompt sounded clearly in Ling's mind:
[Main quest completed: Save the ninja world] [Rating: Perfect] [Final reward tallying...] [Obtained: Six Paths Power (permanently solidified)] [Obtained: Rinne Sharingan usage authority (limited-time unlock)] [Obtained: Myriad Worlds Pass (Beginner)] [System will soon enter upgrade maintenance... Estimated time: 72 hours]
The string of reward notifications lifted Ling's spirits, especially that final "Myriad Worlds Pass," which stirred endless thoughts in his heart. But the system prompt that followed immediately made his heart tighten again:
[Warning: Abnormal space-time fluctuations detected] [Multiple parallel world coordinates are approaching] [New quest issued: Establish a cross-world ninja alliance] [Time limit: Three years]
"Parallel worlds..." Ling murmured to himself, raising his eyes toward the rising sun. The sunlight was dazzling, yet he seemed to see hidden within that radiance countless world lines following different paths.
"Ling, what are you talking about?" Naruto leaned over curiously. His face was still smudged with grime from the battle, but vitality had already reignited in his blue eyes.
"Nothing." Ling smiled, stood, and patted the dust from his body. "I was just thinking, now that the war is over, what should we do next?"
"Rebuild the Hidden Leaf Village, of course!" Naruto answered without hesitation, waving his fist. "I'm going to make the village even more awesome than before!"
Before his words had even faded, hurried footsteps suddenly came from the distance. A squad of Hidden Sand Village ninjas quickly approached, led by Gaara, who had only recently awakened. Though the young Fifth Kazekage's face was still a little pale, his eyes had already regained their usual calm.
"When we woke from the genjutsu, we saw the light here," Gaara explained his purpose briefly. "It seems you stopped that jutsu."
His gaze lingered on Ling for a moment, keenly sensing some kind of change in this peer of his—it was not a simple increase in strength, but a deeper, almost fundamental transformation.
"Not just us," Ling answered honestly. "It was the result of many people working together."
Reinforcements from the various villages arrived one after another. Hidden Mist, Hidden Cloud Village, Hidden Stone Village... The ninjas who had still been fighting their own battles last night now gathered on this battlefield that had just endured the cleansing of doomsday. As they looked at one another, there was wariness, but also a shared relief.
"This may be an opportunity." Shikaku Nara walked to Tsunade's side and lowered his voice. "After experiencing a shared disaster, perhaps we can build a level of trust that would have been unimaginable before."
Tsunade nodded thoughtfully. She leaped onto a higher piece of wreckage, cleared her throat, and with chakra reinforcing her voice, it spread across the entire field:
"Everyone! I imagine all of you are already aware of what happened last night. A conspiracy that had continued for a thousand years nearly plunged the entire ninja world into an eternal dream."
Her gaze swept over every face. What she saw was exhaustion and confusion, but even more than that, the clarity of those who had survived calamity.
"We were once enemies, fighting one another for territory, for resources, and for hatred." Tsunade's voice gradually rose. "But last night's experience taught us one truth—in this world, some threats go beyond the borders of villages and beyond the divisions between nations!"
Standing in the crowd, Ling keenly noticed the expressions of many foreign-village ninjas changing. In particular, those who had experienced Pain's assault and had just awakened from the Infinite Tsukuyomi had light of agreement flickering in their eyes.
"I propose," Tsunade took a deep breath and spoke the words that might change the history of the ninja world, "that we establish a Ninja World Joint Council. Each village will send representatives to discuss together how to deal with crises like last night's, crises that threaten the entire ninja world."
The scene fell into a brief silence. Then, the sound of discussion rose like a tide.
"How could that be possible..."
"Why should we trust the Hidden Leaf Village?"
"But last night really did..."
"The Five Great Nations joining together? That has never happened in history..."
"I agree."
A calm voice overwhelmed all the discussion. Everyone turned to look and saw Gaara raising his hand, his Eye of Sand watching Tsunade. "The Hidden Sand Village is willing to participate in this council."
That statement was like a massive stone thrown into a calm lake. Immediately after, the representative of the Hidden Mist—an older one-eyed ninja—also slowly nodded. "After what happened last night, we truly do need new rules."
The representatives of the Hidden Cloud Village and the Hidden Stone Village exchanged a glance, and in the end, they also expressed their willingness to consider it.
Ling watched this scene, and a strange sense welled up in his heart. He quietly activated his Sharingan. Beyond ordinary sight, he saw a scene normal people could not perceive—countless tiny lights representing "possibilities" and "variables" rising from everyone's body and weaving into a complicated network in the void.
This was the new perspective granted to him by Six Paths Power, allowing him to see the trajectory of world line changes.
[World line change detected: Ninja world unification process beginning] [Current probability: 42%] [Suggestion: Promote cooperation in various fields to deepen trust]
Though the system's voice was somewhat distorted because it was about to upgrade, it still gave crucial guidance. Ling secretly took note of it and was just about to step forward and say something when suddenly—
"Report!"
A Hidden Leaf Anbu appeared before Tsunade with a Body Flicker Technique. When he knelt on one knee, the voice beneath his mask carried obvious panting. "Lady Hokage, the border patrol has discovered an anomaly! Several... unidentified ninjas are approaching. Their chakra signatures are... very strange!"
For a moment, the Anbu seemed unable to find the right words to describe exactly what "strange" meant. But Ling understood instantly—visitors from a parallel world had actually arrived this quickly!
"I'll go take a look." He volunteered, while signaling to Kakashi and Naruto with his eyes.
The three quickly left the main battlefield and sped in the direction indicated by the Anbu. Along the way, Ling briefly explained what he had sensed—of course, he cleverly transformed the system's prompts into a "special perception from Six Paths Power."
When they reached the border forest, the scene before them made even Kakashi unconsciously tighten his grip on his kunai.
Three people wearing ninja outfits of completely different styles were standing in a clearing in the forest, warily surveying their surroundings. Most striking of all was that none of the three present had ever seen the symbols on their forehead protectors—not any of the Five Great Nations, nor any variation from the smaller ninja villages.
More importantly, the nature of these three people's chakra... held subtle differences from the ninjas of this world.
"Who are you?" Kakashi asked in a low voice, the faint glow of Lightning Cutter flickering in and out of sight in his hand.
Among the three strangers, a red-haired young man was the first to step forward. His deep eyes lingered on Ling for an especially long time.
"My name is Senju Genma. I come from... another Hidden Leaf Village."
Those words were like thunder. Naruto's eyes went wide. "Another Hidden Leaf Village? What does that mean?"
Ling, however, understood. He took a deep breath and stepped forward. His Rinne Sharingan opened and closed in an instant, releasing a trace of the unique aura of Six Paths Power.
The expressions of all three strangers changed at the same time. In the eyes of the red-haired young man—Senju Genma—an incredulous light erupted.
"Six Paths Power... How do you have the power of the Sage of Six Paths? And at this concentration... impossible. In our world, the Six Paths inheritance was severed a hundred years ago!"
His words contained too much information. Ling keenly caught the key phrase. "Your world... so that's really it."
He turned to Kakashi and Naruto and calmly stated that shocking truth. "They come from the ninja world of another parallel world. And it looks like... their world ran into trouble, which is why they crossed the world barrier to come here."
Kakashi's Sharingan opened instantly as he carefully observed the way chakra flowed through the three strangers. After a moment, he had to admit that Ling's judgment was very likely correct—the "flavor" contained in that chakra was indeed different from that of this world.
"What happened to you?" Kakashi asked. The hostility in his tone lessened slightly, but his vigilance did not.
Senju Genma exchanged a glance with his companions, seemingly hesitating over how much information to reveal. In the end, he said in a low voice, "Our world... is being corroded by a 'virus' we have never seen before. After ninjas are infected, they gradually lose their sanity and become monsters that only know how to kill. Conventional ninjutsu is ineffective against them. We tried every method..."
Deep fatigue and despair seeped through his voice. "In the end, Orochimaru of our world—yes, he is still alive—proposed a mad theory: the source of the virus might come from other parallel worlds. So he spent his entire life's work creating a device that could briefly open a world passage."
Naruto sucked in a breath. "Orochimaru? He does good things like that too?"
"Not entirely good." Genma smiled bitterly. "There were seven of us when we set out. Now only three remain. The process of crossing the world barrier... was far more dangerous than we imagined."
Ling listened quietly, but his mind was analyzing rapidly. The system's warning, the sudden appearance of parallel-world visitors, this so-called "virus"... None of it was likely to be a coincidence.
[Warning: Abnormal space-time fluctuations intensifying] [Speculation: Multiple worlds are facing the same threat] [Urgent suggestion: Establish a cross-world intelligence-sharing mechanism]
Just then, a sudden change occurred! An eerie roar abruptly came from the depths of the forest, twisted and piercing, completely unlike any sound a normal creature could make.
Senju Genma's face turned deathly pale in an instant. "How is this possible... How could they have followed us here?!"
A humanoid monster covered head to toe in black, viscous matter lunged out from the woods. Its movements had no pattern, but its speed was astonishingly fast, and wherever it passed, the trees quickly withered and rotted.
Ling attacked without hesitation. "Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"
The enormous fireball struck the monster, but only stalled it for an instant. The black matter writhed, actually absorbing the energy of the flames!
"It's useless!" Genma shouted. "Ordinary ninjutsu is ineffective against the Black Plague Body! It has to be sealed with special senjutsu!"
Senjutsu... sealing...
A flash of insight sparked in Ling's mind. He pressed his hands together and mobilized the Six Paths Power he had just obtained inside his body. Warm, immense energy gathered in his palms, forming a complicated sealing array according to his will.
"Six Paths: Purification Seal!"
Golden light surged out from the formation and enveloped the monster. The black matter let out a deathbed shriek in the golden light and quickly evaporated, scattering away. When the radiance faded, only a shriveled human corpse remained in place—clearly, before being corroded, this had once been a ninja from some world.
Senju Genma and his companions stared at the scene dumbfounded. Only after a long while did Genma speak hoarsely:
"You... just who are you? Why can you use Six Paths Power so easily? A purification seal of this level would require three Kage-level experts working together to cast in our world!"
This question also lingered in the hearts of Kakashi and Naruto. The way they looked at Ling was filled with questions and searching.
Ling remained silent for a moment, and in the end, he chose an answer relatively close to the truth:
"I'm just... an Uchiha who happened to obtain this power. As for why..."
He raised his head and looked toward the sky. Sunlight spilled down through the gaps between the leaves, seeming especially precious after the night of the blood moon.
"Perhaps it is because there is a greater mission waiting for me to complete."
In the distance, the outline of the Hidden Leaf Village was faintly visible through the morning mist. The ninja world had just broken free from a thousand-year conspiracy, only to face unknown challenges from endless parallel worlds.
But this time, Ling was no longer alone. At his side were comrades, behind him was his village, within him was the power granted by the system, and in his heart was an unprecedented blueprint that was still taking shape—
A new order that would connect countless worlds and jointly guard peace.
And all of this, just like the newly risen morning sun, had only just begun.
