Spirit Hall was originally established to honor and guard Douluo Palace, a memorial and burial site reserved for deceased Titled Douluo. Its connection to the palace helped it develop into the continent's foremost soul master force and a sacred institution in the eyes of many soul masters 193.

Tang Hao's destruction of Spirit Hall branch halls turned the rivalry into open retaliation. Spirit Hall deployed Titled Douluo, punished perceived supporters of the Clear Sky Sect, and sought to contain the sect at its mountain gate 94 111.

Soul Master Competition

Spirit Hall sent Yan, Xie Yue, and Hu Liena to demonstrate the Golden Generation's strength and prestige. Yan's challenge of Heaven Dou academies ended with his defeat by Dugu Feng, though Dugu Feng secretly placed Yan under his control afterward 104 107.
