Vereesa Windrunner, like a walking corpse, returned alone to a hidden valley in the Hillsbrad Foothills, clutching the cold shells of her two half-elf children.

A concealed magical barrier surrounded the valley, repelling all outsiders. Yet it did not stop Vereesa Windrunner, because the barrier recognized her as this place's owner.

The valley was lush with water and grass, peaceful and warm. Beneath a waterfall stood an exquisitely beautiful house.

This had once been the home of Archmage Rhonin and Vereesa Windrunner, after Dalaran was destroyed by the corrupted Archimonde, until the Sun King Kael'thas Sunstrider reclaimed Dalaran and fled to Outland.

But after Archmage Rhonin became the leader of the Kirin Tor and rebuilt Dalaran, they had never returned.

Vereesa Windrunner now had nowhere left to go.

The Kingdom of Quel'Thalas had cast her out.

The Silver Covenant and Dalaran had been destroyed, and the Alliance no longer welcomed her either.

She had just offended her sister Alleria Windrunner and her brother-in-law, Archbishop Turalyon.

So Vereesa Windrunner could only return here, the home she had once shared with Rhonin.

But the happiness of those days was gone. The Silver Covenant, who had believed in and supported her, had died alongside her husband, Archmage Rhonin, beneath the Moon Guard's magic. Her two children had left her as well.

Afterward, Vereesa Windrunner shut herself inside the cottage, hugging her two children and giggling foolishly, as if they were still alive.
