The Horde's armies landed separately in Twilight Highlands and Stranglethorn Vale, two regions in the southern part of the Eastern Kingdoms.
Looking across the entire southern Eastern Kingdoms, only four ports could accommodate naval and transport fleets on such a massive scale: Stormwind Harbor, Menethil Harbor, Booty Bay, and Dragonmaw Port.
Although Westfall and the Blasted Lands also had coastlines suitable for landing, they lacked ports and could not berth large numbers of ships.
Booty Bay and Dragonmaw Port had not originally possessed such capacity either. However, thanks to Rend's foresight, both had been continuously expanded after the Cataclysm, all in preparation for the Horde's counterattack on the Eastern Kingdoms.
That was the power of the butterfly effect. Under Rend's influence, the siege of Orgrimmar had never happened. Instead, Stormwind was now under siege.
Among the various races participating in the siege of Stormwind, the Orc legions were the most excited, because during the era of the Old Horde, the Orcs had once conquered Stormwind.
While the armies continued gathering in Redridge Mountains and Westfall, the Horde's Iron Fleet, the Zandalari Golden Fleet, and the Blood Elves' Magic Fleet sealed off Stormwind Harbor from the sea.
Rend had originally intended to land directly at Stormwind Harbor, following Garrosh Hellscream's plan from the original history. But although the Alliance fleet had already been nearly wiped out, the other Old Gods had each sent reinforcements because of Y'Shaarj, the Seven-Headed Old God.
Large numbers of Faceless Ones poured into Stormwind. Vast numbers of Naga defended the waters near Stormwind Harbor, and there were even many massive sea beasts.
Since they could not land through the harbor from the sea, they could only launch a frontal assault through Stormwind's main gate.
