Tonatiuh opened his eyes and woke.

An unfamiliar ceiling greeted him, though this was not an unfamiliar place. This was his quarters aboard the flagship, the Zul.

Two soft breaths sounded by his ears. Tonatiuh looked to either side.

His daughter Aisha and his Naga lover, Lady Vashj, lay on either side of him.

Compared to his burly body, whether lover or daughter, they looked like little cats sprawled atop him. The difference was that Vashj, in her Highborne form, was a slightly larger cat, while little Aisha was a tiny kitten.

To the left of the large bed in the quarters was a huge window. Beyond it, the Great Sea rose and fell gently beneath the night sky, dotted with moonlight.

There was no glass in the window, yet not a trace of sea breeze could blow in. Rezan's priests had enchanted it with divine magic, blocking all wind and waves while allowing those inside to see the seascape outside.
