The Battle for Stranglethorn Vale Begins

Tonatiuh began preparing to launch a war—a war against the New Hakkari, though in truth, it was a war to unite the Gurubashi Trolls.

On the surface, he had come to Stranglethorn Vale to help the dragons seize the Demon Soul from Deathwing. But what he truly wanted was to complete one of the King-Making System's main quests: uniting the Jungle Trolls, the most numerous troll population in the world.

According to Zaun's incomplete estimates, the total troll population in Stranglethorn Vale might exceed four million. At the very least, there were more than three million, perhaps even close to five million!

That was two or three times the population of the Zandalari Trolls, who numbered just over a million, and nearly ten times that of the Desert Trolls, who had at most five hundred thousand people. They also far outnumbered the Forest Trolls being beaten down by the High Elves, and the Frost Trolls as well.

Such a massive population had always tempted Tonatiuh. He had long wanted to spread his influence here, which was why Zul'An had come into being.

Zul'An was now called Zaun by the trolls and every other race that knew of its existence.

Zaun had originally been formed from over a hundred thousand scattered survivors of the defeated Gurubashi invasion of Stormwind. Tonatiuh had saved them, used the name of the Loa to coax them here, then began spreading his religion. Gradually, Zul'An took shape.

It had only been two years so far. Yet in merely two years, Zaun had transformed from that chaotic troll gathering by the sea into something else under the management and construction of goblins and Tonatiuh's followers.
