The insect attack was merely an interlude.
As long as you stayed in Tanaris Desert for any length of time and ventured out into the wilds,
if you didn't run into some trolls or get attacked by insects, it would feel as though you had never been to Tanaris at all. That was the desert's signature. Only these few tenacious intelligent creatures could survive in such a harsh place.
The Sandblood Tribe were trolls.
Of course, encountering trolls did not necessarily mean a fight, unless they were the recently crazed Sandfury Tribe. As for insects, they had already fought them several times along the way.
The Sandblood Tribe had strength in numbers, not to mention a chieftain who was practically cheating with hacks, so they had won every battle.
Early the next morning.
The tribe packed up and set off once more.
The procession of over ten thousand trolls, along with vast quantities of supplies, stretched out for hundreds of meters. Tonatiuh had most of the warriors march at the front, while some warriors, archers, and spearmen covered the rear. The witch doctors, elderly, and children traveled in the middle.
Why were there no women?
Because unless they were troll mothers currently nursing children who could not be separated from them, the tusked girls might not have been as strong as male trolls, but they were no weaker than ordinary human men. After all, female trolls were generally over 1.8 meters tall, roughly the same height as human men.
Male trolls, if they could stand upright, were generally over 2.3 meters tall. Even when hunched over halfway, they still stood 1.7 or 1.8 meters tall.
Regardless of the type of troll, they possessed powerful endurance and recovery abilities. Even the elderly and children could walk for an entire day without resting, provided they had enough food and water. That was why the Sandblood Tribe had crossed the desert in just one month and now reached the border between Tanaris and the Crater.
Tonatiuh and Zangar walked at the very front of the procession. At his side stood Kezra, the utterly loyal troll who had just advanced to become a paladin. After being transformed by the system the previous night, the troll paladin had straightened his back and no longer stooped. He was at least 2.5 meters tall by eye.
Yet he was still a head shorter than the chieftain.
As the strongest warrior in the tribe, Tonatiuh stood at least 2.8 meters tall when fully upright, not much shorter than the Vrykul of Northrend. An ordinary human from Azeroth standing before him would look like that Guo guy standing before Yao Ming...
Sometimes, Tonatiuh could not help sighing. "Damn, I'm so tall and built. What am I supposed to find for a wife in the future? I love Blood Elves and hoof girls, but to me, they're just little lolis..."
All right.
Old Zangar had no idea that his chieftain was lost in such wild thoughts. He held a map in his hands and was looking for the way.
The tribe had no gold.
They could only trade supplies the trolls did not value or have little need for at Gadgetzan or Zul'Farrak, in exchange for the goods the Sandblood Tribe required.
Among them, the various magic-infused herbs produced in Tanaris were the trade goods goblins loved most. As one of the larger tribes in the desert, the Sandblood Tribe had a decent stockpile of them. When they migrated from their tribal lands this time, they traded their entire stockpile to the goblins for large quantities of supplies and food.
This map from Tanaris to Un'Goro Crater was one of the items they had obtained from the goblins.
Old Zangar was the tribe's chief spellcaster. Though he was not much of a fighter, he was highly skilled in voodoo healing spells, and the Sandblood trolls all respected him.
"My Chieftain, we are almost there." After studying the map, the old troll raised his head and pointed toward the lush shadow in the distance. It was the canopy of those outrageously enormous, towering trees within the Crater. The old troll slowly said, "Even the trees there are absurdly huge. Desert tribes have always said that everything there is oversized. The devilsaur are larger than those outside, the plants and flowers are larger than those outside, and even the elements are far more powerful than those outside."
Tonatiuh nodded.
He had visited Un'Goro Crater many times in the game. Azeroth's two craters were biological laboratories of the Titans and their keepers. With the power of the Titans and life influencing those places, naturally their creatures would be larger than those elsewhere.
Sometimes, he also wondered.
The remaining Titan power within Un'Goro Crater might have been the main reason the system guided him to establish his tribe there. After all, the miniature version of the Well of Eternity, the [Eternal Statue], awarded by the main quest would clearly be more effective in places richer in energy.
And in Azeroth,
aside from the Well of Eternity and the Sunwell, no place possessed more energy than Titan ruins.
But for a troll tribe of barely over ten thousand people, migrating to such a place was truly dangerous.
Hearing the old troll's worried tone, Tonatiuh had no choice but to bring out the two Loa he had made up again.
"The Loa's guidance cannot be wrong. Zangar, They have always watched over us from the sky! The night belongs to Tiu, and the day belongs to Tona. The Sandblood Tribe, blessed by Them, fears nothing wherever we go!"
Kezra, standing beside him, wore an expression of piety and fervor. The way he looked at Tonatiuh was no different from how a fanatic looked upon his god.
Zangar could not help nodding as well.
Though he was an old troll who had lived for many years, he had never heard of these two Loa. But troll beliefs regarding Loa had always been intricate and tangled. If they wished, even a wildflower by the roadside could become a Loa.
The sun and moon in the sky could seemingly become Loa as well. In fact, compared with the other animal Loa, these two eternal beings were the greatest of all.
No troll had ever regarded Them as Loa before because the sun and moon had never answered troll prayers. Answering the prayers of troll believers was how a Loa demonstrated its existence.
But now...
Zangar looked at the chieftain beside him with reverence. It was the great Tonatiuh who had brought the Sandblood Tribe responses from the two greatest Loa.
Whenever they encountered battle,
those two great beings blessed the chieftain and the tribe, allowing the tribe to win every time with such ease.
In battles during the day, Loa Tona would send down light and destroy their enemies.
In battles at night, Loa Tiu would make the tribe's warriors fearless and invincible.
The blessings of the two Loa
had been witnessed with their own eyes, even personally felt, by every Sandblood troll. The Sandblood trolls now firmly believed in the existence of these two Loa.
If they did not believe,
then the three Sandblood troll warriors who seemed to have been reborn—Kezra, Dezla, and Efra—would make them believe.
Zangar felt that it was simply because the faith of people like himself was not devout enough that they could not receive the response of the two greatest Loa directly. They could only rely on the chieftain's help to let the Loa's great power descend upon them.
Even so,
Zangar could already sense the boundless divine power of these two Loa. It was incomparably greater than the Scorpion of Wrath Sand, the animal Loa worshiped by the Sandblood Tribe in the past!
Since it was the Loa's guidance,
then it could not possibly be wrong.
Zangar hardened his resolve to lead the tribe to settle in Un'Goro Crater.
The old troll prayed silently, "Great Tona and Tiu, great beings. May You protect the Sandblood Tribe and protect our chieftain. If anything is needed in exchange, You may even take old Zangar's life!"
Tonatiuh's opened golden left eye suddenly saw a large mote of light drift from Zangar's body and be absorbed by his left eye. His Faith value instantly increased by 0.1...
This old troll's faith was truly devout. The faith power a single troll contributed in one day was roughly equal to that of more than twenty devout troll believers.
The battle the previous night and the soldier upgrades had consumed over a hundred units of his faith power. Later, the "miracle" had drawn in a wave of faith power, replenishing more than ten units. Another ten-odd units had been restored by this morning. Of the original hundred and thirty-plus units of faith power, only fifty-odd remained.
Faith power was currently his greatest trump card. It could strengthen the tribe's warriors and strengthen himself, making his combat power even greater. It could even let him charge into a crowd of enemies and go on an unstoppable rampage. It was far too important.
As he considered the tribe's future path,
Tonatiuh continued walking at the very front. This time, nothing went wrong. Around dusk,
the migrating people of the Sandblood Tribe finally completed the last stretch through Tanaris and stepped into the forest, which had suddenly become incomparably cool and shaded.
Un'Goro Crater.
They had arrived.
