Fish-Dragon Prefecture and the Ancient Secret Realm

Zhao Qingcheng was a disciple of Fish-Dragon Prefecture when she entered an ancient secret realm. She was badly injured while Fish-Dragon Prefecture disciples defended her and an ancient scroll from Great Wei cultivators. Though bloodied and exhausted, she remained resolute until Mo Chen killed the attackers and rescued the group. She formally thanked him as her savior 82.

After the conflict, she collapsed from her injuries. Mo Chen and Yuwen Chongqing delayed their plans so she could recover, though Zhao Qingcheng feared she was becoming a burden to them 86 89.

Defense of Mo Chen

During Mo Chen's attempt to complete the Mountain Opening, Zhao Qingcheng repeatedly placed herself between him and a Great Wei assassin. She took a dagger wound to the back and still rose again to block a second attack, declaring that no one would harm him while she remained alive 109.

She later disregarded her unhealed injuries to see Mo Chen off when he departed Fish-Dragon Prefecture. He promised to write to her and protect Great Mystic, giving her hope that they would meet again 111.

Leaving Spirit Creek Sect

While traveling from Jinzhou City with fellow Spirit Creek Sect disciples, Zhao Qingcheng politely rejected Senior Brother Huo and Senior Brother Qi. She made clear that her heart already belonged to someone else, refusing both their gifts and their advances 224.

After the two men attempted to assault her and Xiao Lan betrayed her, Zhao Qingcheng threatened suicide rather than submit. Mo Chen arrived, killed the three offenders at her request, and brought her away. She chose to accompany him instead of returning to Spirit Creek Sect 224 225.

Journey Through the Great Wilderness

Zhao Qingcheng traveled with Mo Chen through the Great Wilderness, where she was briefly captured by the Great Locust Tree after trying to avenge what she believed was Mo Chen's death. Bound and unable to resist, she swore she would not continue living if he died 227.
