Background / History

Rhine Lab used Ifrit in an experiment intended to create a controllable Flame Demon. She contracted Oripathy and carried a sealed, unstable Flame Demon consciousness; repeated experiments, isolation, and the disappearance of other children left her deeply fearful of medical institutions and abandonment. Silence became her principal caretaker and regarded her as a daughter, while Saria protected her despite Rhine Lab's treatment of the girl. 9 32 200

During Gregor's rampage at Rhine Lab, Ifrit escaped confinement to search for Silence and Saria. Believing the colossal lava giant had come for the fragment within her, she surrendered to the fragment in an attempt to protect Saria. The fragment manifested through her body, but immediately retreated when confronted by Gregor. 13 14

After Silence left to seek treatment for the severely injured Saria, frightened townspeople turned their anger toward Ifrit. Gregor returned, drove them away, and offered to take her with him. Though initially terrified, Ifrit accepted his protection and left Trimmounts on a crystal platform carried by him. 17 18 19

At the Vitality Hall, she was cared for by Gregor, Vera, Gorth, and Vane. Her fear of the unfamiliar hall led her into a dungeon alone, where the Flame Demon fragment repeatedly took control to keep her alive. The prolonged fighting and extreme temperature changes left her unconscious with a dangerous fever until the group used a red potion to heal her. 20 23 24 30

When Silence and Saria reunited with her in Kazimierz, Ifrit chose not to return with them. She still loved them, but could not bear returning to Rhine Lab and believed she needed to become stronger to protect Silence herself. 103

Later, Little Flame's medical examination triggered memories of Rhine Lab's experiments. Ifrit panicked, attacked the medical department, and unleashed the Flame Demon fragment again. Vera and Theresa entered her memories and separated her consciousness from the fragment, after which Ifrit finally slept peacefully. 200 201

By the time she met Ceobe and the others in Vissheim, Ifrit believed she had learned to control power associated with the Flame Demon fragments. Seeking to prove herself to Gregor, she challenged Ceobe for status among his “underlings,” but lost the duel. 237

Appearance

Ifrit is a small modified Savra girl whose alterations make her appear much like a Sarkaz. Her most notable visual trait is her amber eyes, which are often described as widening or trembling when she is frightened. 13 18
