The acrid smoke from the chemical plant hadn't yet dispersed, and the pungent smell of burning mingled with the seemingly purified air, creating a peculiar aftertaste of the battlefield.
Chen the fatty slumped beside a pile of twisted scrap metal, his glasses askew, his face smeared with ash and sweat.
He watched in stunned silence as Fang Gang leaped from the top of the hundred-meter-tall smokestack. He landed without even creating a crater, landing as lightly as a feather, a bronze battle halberd he'd just ripped from the neck of a Grade-A Corpse Puppet slung over his shoulder.
"Gulp."
Chen Tao swallowed hard, his throat drier than dust. "Bro... Brother Fang?" His voice trembled uncontrollably.
Fang Gang ignored him, walking directly to the pile of Blood Fiend Corpse Puppet remains, which were still emitting wisps of smoke.
His dark golden skin flowed with a cold, metallic sheen under the sunlight. The ferocious aura from the previous battle had largely subsided, leaving only a heavy, suffocating pressure.
He extended his foot and casually nudged some charred bone.
Crack.
A piece of black leg bone, noticeably several times thicker than normal, snapped and broke into several sections.
Fang Gang bent down, picked up the largest fragment, and weighed it in his hand.
It was heavy, yet surprisingly brittle. The broken surface showed a honeycomb-like charred structure.
"Tch." He curled his lip in disdain and casually tossed the bone fragment onto the ground, where it landed with a dull thud.
"Looks good, but useless."
He clapped his hands as if he'd touched something dirty. His gaze swept over the scattered fragments of Green Zombies and B-class Zombies littering the ground. His voice was so flat it was impossible to discern any emotion, yet it struck Chen Tao and the others like heavy hammers:
"My suggestion for these zombies next time they reincarnate... is to take more calcium."
Chen Tao: "..." The team members beside him gaped, looking as if they'd been struck by lightning.
Take... take more calcium?
The guy who single-handedly took down hundreds of Green Zombies, a B-class Zombie, and a Grade-A Blood Fiend Corpse Puppet, his first comment after the battle concluded... was to suggest zombies take calcium?!
This guy's train of thought was even more hardcore than his fists!
"Bro... Brother Fang,"
Chen Tao struggled to get up, forcing a smile that looked more like a grimace. His eyes, however, involuntarily flickered towards Fang Gang's gleaming bald head. "That... that Grade A one... it's just... gone like that?" He pointed at the pile of smoking charcoal.
Fang Gang, carrying the halberd, walked towards Chen Tao with steady steps. "Mm." A simple hum.
"And the flute... the guy controlling the Corpse Puppets..." Chen Tao glanced nervously at the empty top of the smokestack.
"Ran off."
Fang Gang's tone was unperturbed. "A rat that hides its head and tail. I'll find and crush him next time."
On his left arm, the dark, ominous Grudge Pupil brand seemed to writhe ever so slightly. From the narrow slit at its end, a chilling, bone-deep greed flashed and vanished so quickly it was easy to mistake it for an illusion.
Fang Gang's brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.
"Right, right! A rat! Definitely need to crush it!"
Chen Tao nodded vigorously, like a pecking chick. As Fang Gang approached, the invisible pressure made him instinctively take half a step back.
He quickly changed the subject, his gaze once again drawn to Fang Gang's bald head, which shone like a miniature sun in the sunlight.
"Brother Fang, your head... did you train it like that? It's so... so bright! Down below, the glare almost made me unable to open my eyes!" He tried to ease the tension with an exaggerated tone.
Fang Gang glanced at him but didn't take the bait. "Where's my stuff?"
"Ah? Oh, right! The medal! The Iron Head... no! The Humanoid Weapon medal! I have it on me! I'll get it to you when we get back! A special-class medal!"
Chen the fatty patted his chest in assurance, then couldn't help but ask curiously, "Brother Fang, your head... how hard is it right now?"
He asked tentatively, his eyes filled with the scholarly curiosity of a researcher.
Fang Gang didn't answer. Instead, his gaze thoughtfully swept over the massive metal reaction vessel nearby, which was severely dented and deformed – a result of the B-class Zombie leader being sent flying into it earlier.
He then looked up at the towering smokestack again.
Chen Tao followed his gaze and felt a sudden shiver, a chill running from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head. He quickly shut his mouth, no longer daring to ask.
This guy wasn't actually planning to test his head against that, was he?!
"Clean up the scene and file the report."
Fang Gang's instructions were concise. "I'm taking this halberd."
He hefted the bronze battle halberd on his shoulder. It felt cool and heavy in his hands, its ancient malevolent aura contained within. It was a decent trophy.
"No problem! Absolutely no problem! Take your time!" Chen Tao was eager to see this formidable presence leave, nodding and bowing obsequiously.
Fang Gang lingered no longer, carrying the bronze battle halberd, and strode out of the ruined chemical plant.
The sunlight fell upon his dark golden bald head and the mottled ancient halberd, casting a silhouette filled with violence and absurdity.
Returning to the old apartment building where he rented, as soon as he pushed open the creaking rusty iron gate, Old Zhao from the gatehouse poked his head out, holding a crumpled express delivery bag.
"Little Fang! You've got a package! Just arrived! Looks like a book?" Old Zhao called out at the top of his lungs.
Fang Gang's steps halted, a sharp glint flashing in his eyes. It was here!
He took the bag, which felt thin in his hand. Tearing open the seal, a thin, crudely printed booklet slid out. The cover was an eyesore of fluorescent color, emblazoned with a few large, flamboyant characters:
Nine Yang Divine Skill (Deluxe Collector's Edition)
Next to it was also printed a QR code, with a line of small text below: Scan the code to watch the Heaven and Earth Great Shift tutorial video (bonus)!
A strong whiff of roadside stall literature filled the air.
Fang Gang's mouth twitched. Good, the same familiar recipe, the same familiar taste.
He picked up this "Deluxe Collector's Edition" pirated manual and the Bronze War Halberd, then quickly went upstairs.
He locked the door and leaned the heavy war halberd against the wall. The room was small and crude, its only advantage being that it was relatively sturdy.
Sitting cross-legged on the hard wooden bed, Fang Gang didn't immediately flip through the "Nine Yang Divine Skill" manual. Instead, he calmed his mind.
"System."
A cold, mechanical voice accompanied by a simple light screen instantly appeared in his mind:
[Host: Fang Gang] [Realm: Bone Tempering Realm → Tendon Transformation Realm (Early Stage)!] [Strength: 4250 → 8000 (Mighty Elephant Lifting Heaven)] [Constitution: 790 → 1200 (Indestructible Golden Body)] [Agility: 409 → 650 (Star Chasing Moon Stealing)] [Skills:] [True Dragon-Elephant Prajna Skill (Great Accomplishment 1000/1000) → Perfected!] [True Vajra Indestructible Body (Great Accomplishment 1000/1000) → Perfected!] [Available Evolution Points: 550!]
The 550 evolution points from killing the Blood Fiend Corpse Puppet lay quietly on the panel.
Without any hesitation, Fang Gang focused his gaze on the realm section. "Breakthrough!"
Boom——!
The 550 evolution points instantly cleared!
A torrent of power, far more violent and profound than when he broke through to Vajra Perfected, suddenly erupted from the deepest part of his body!
It was no longer the scorching explosion of billions of small suns, but like subterranean magma, dormant for eons, being suddenly stirred.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Dense popping sounds, like fried beans, echoed from the depths of his bones!
His bones, which had been tempered to be as tough and dense as white jade in the Bone Tempering Realm, began to undergo a deeper transformation under the scouring of this immense force!
Upon the bones, countless minute, invisible fascia seemed to come alive, growing, stretching, tempering, and strengthening madly!
They became tougher, more resilient, like billions of the finest alloy springs, perfectly connecting the entire skeletal structure into a unified whole brimming with explosive power!
Tendon Transformation Realm! A metamorphosis from the inside out! A qualitative leap in physical coordination and explosive power!
Fang Gang abruptly opened his eyes, his gaze sharp as lightning, piercing the dim room!
He slowly clenched his fist, and the air exploded in his palm, emitting a muffled sonic boom!
Beneath his skin, newly formed fascia rippled under the surge of power, full of infinite vitality.
He felt his body at this moment was like a perfectly drawn bowstring, with every inch of muscle and bone brimming with terrifying power capable of shattering mountains and splitting rocks!
He lowered his head and looked at his left arm. The deep black Grudge Pupil brand seemed to be suppressed even deeper by the surging vital energy of the Tendon Transformation Realm, and the slit of the dark gold vertical pupil at its end seemed to have closed a bit.
However, the brand itself conveyed a clearer, colder "sense of presence," like a piece of ice embedded in his flesh and blood.
Fang Gang's expression turned cold. This thing was like a time bomb. He had to find a skill that enhanced mental resistance as soon as possible, or... completely eliminate its source.
His gaze finally fell upon the "Nine Yang Divine Skill (Deluxe Collector's Edition)" in his hand, emanating the scent of cheap ink.
"System, scan."
[Ding! Detected low-quality paper carrier, content contains a large amount of conjecture, tampering, and logical errors…] [Energy Reaction: Weak (Negligible)] [Threat Level: None] [Do you wish to spend 1 Evolution Point to convert it into the introductory basic skill "True Nine Yang Divine Skill"?]
"Convert!"
[Evolution Point -1!] [Converting… Removing redundant information… Correcting core Qi circulation routes… Supplementing key nodes for Yin-Yang circulation…] [Conversion Complete! Obtained Basic Skill: "True Nine Yang Divine Skill" (Introductory 0/100)!]
A simple method for guiding vital energy and converting it into supreme Yang internal energy flooded Fang Gang's mind. Although crude, the route was clear, real, and effective.
Without hesitation, Fang Gang immediately began circulating according to this introductory method.
The vast vital energy of the Tendon Transformation Realm surged within his body, and as it followed the new route, it began to circulate, compress, and frictionize… A faint but incredibly pure, warm golden-red aura, like a newborn flame, slowly condensed in his Dantian's Qi Sea!
Supreme Yang internal energy! It's done!
Although it was just a trace, this was precisely the core power to counter all yin evil ghosts in the world! It was the starting point of the "Great Sun Furnace Scripture"!
Fang Gang felt the faint but vibrant warmth in his dantian, then looked at the bronze battle-ax leaning against the wall, its malevolent aura contained, and finally touched his own cold, hard, and seemingly even shinier bald head.
He curled his lips and smiled silently.
The factory was just the beginning.
Nightmare Holy Cult?
Grudge Pupil imprint?
Bring it on.
Let's see if your sinister arts are more vicious, or if my fists and this bald head… are harder!
He picked up his phone, the screen lighting up, and a new logistics notification popped up:
"Your purchase of 'Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms (Manual + Disc)' has been shipped…"
