Five days later.
Uchiha Yato was walking through the streets of Konoha.
The reason was simple: he had been kicked out of the mission reception desk.
For the past five days, Uchiha Yato had been frantically taking C-rank and D-rank missions.
What was sickening was the mission staff responsible for assigning and receiving them.
A jonin—a Konoha jonin, a dignified Uchiha jonin of Konoha—was competing with a bunch of genin for missions.
At first, the mission clerk had tactfully suggested, "Lord Yato, you're highly capable. We have an A-rank mission and several B-rank missions here. Would you like to take a look?"
Uchiha Yato's voice choked slightly as he said, "I consider myself lacking in ability. Taking some simple missions to gain more experience would be more beneficial for me."
"I was injured while carrying out an A-rank mission before, so I want to recover first."
As he spoke, he put on the look of someone who was half-dead after a breakup—too dead to live, too alive to die.
At first, this made the mission clerk rather awkward, afraid that he had poked at someone's sore spot.
What if the man had some unspeakable difficulty that made high-rank missions inconvenient for him, leaving him no choice but to scrape by on low-rank ones?
Whenever that thought crossed his mind, the mission clerk would wake up in the middle of the night and slap himself.
All while muttering under his breath.
"I'm such a fucking bastard!"
"I'm such a fucking bastard!"
Over the next few days, the mission clerk tried his best to assign the easiest missions to Uchiha Yato.
And Uchiha Yato was more than happy with that. He liked missions that were simple and effortless.
But after three days, the clerk gradually realized something was wrong.
First, Yato had never given his full name. All he knew was that the man was called Yato.
The clerk had been so immersed in remorse during the first few days that he had not thought much about it. But once it clicked, he immediately understood.
Konoha's number-one troublemaker—Uchiha Yato.
Second, this guy claimed he was recovering from an injury, yet he completed twenty C-rank missions and thirty D-rank missions a day.
And he was supposed to be injured?
As a result, on the fourth day, Uchiha Yato only received two D-rank and C-rank missions between them.
By the fifth day, the mission clerk simply told him there were none left.
With no other choice, Uchiha Yato could only leave without taking any missions.
There were two main reasons he had been accepting missions here.
First, ninjas were people too. They needed to eat.
Uchiha Yato still needed money, and no one ever complained about having too much of it. These low-rank missions were practically free money and did not take up much time.
Second, while taking these low-rank missions, Uchiha Yato had encountered several key figures from the story of the Hokage.
He had run into Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze, as well as Sasuke's mother from the Uchiha Clan—Mikoto Uchiha.
Now that was a whole pile of emotional points!
Uchiha Yato immediately transformed into a "mischief-maker"!
He would always deliberately strike up conversations with Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze, the lovey-dovey young couple, though it was not as if he had anything important to discuss with them.
Kushina's fiery temper would flare up at once. She definitely could not beat him, which made her feel awful.
Meanwhile, this guy could always come up with all kinds of strange excuses to conveniently escort Mikoto Uchiha home.
And so, along the way, Uchiha Yato would deliberately bring up Fugaku Uchiha and chat with her about him.
Poor Mikoto Uchiha was only in her teens. He made her blush furiously with embarrassment, yet she was too shy to tell Uchiha Yato to stop talking.
In truth, Uchiha Yato had noticed these two couples long ago.
Whether he had seen such scenes in the Naruto anime before or was personally experiencing everything now that he was in this world, whenever he saw these sweet young couples, he would feel as though he had wasted his trip across worlds if he did not tease them properly.
Still, the gratifying part was that in just five short days, Uchiha Yato had successfully gained a full 1,000 emotional points!
Just as Uchiha Yato finished tallying his gains from the past few days, he saw a fight break out at a street corner.
Two men in casual kimono were fighting.
They had brawled their way out of an izakaya and into the street, their fists landing with solid force as neither showed the slightest mercy.
At that moment, members of the Uchiha Police Force arrived and stepped in to break up the fight, asking what had caused the two men to come to blows.
After roughly hearing the two men's explanations from the sidelines, Uchiha Yato's lips curled slightly.
"Danzo, is this your move?"
"No wonder you can't become Hokage. This is child's play."
The incident had apparently started when the two had been drinking in the izakaya. For some unknown reason, their emotions had suddenly flared. After two rounds of verbal sparring failed to settle the matter, they had begun fighting.
If that were all, then Danzo Shimura could only be called stupid.
The key was that neither man had an ordinary identity.
The man in the white kimono embroidered with patterns was named Sarutobi Kakuya.
His name made the reason obvious. He belonged to the current Hokage's clan, so they had to show him at least some respect.
The other wore a black kimono with few decorations, giving him an air of noble elegance. What stood out was that his eyes were entirely white.
This man was named Hyuga Boya, from the Hyuga Clan, one of Konoha's two great dojutsu clans.
Both men had powerful backgrounds, neither was willing to back down, and both were at fault to roughly the same degree.
If neither side was favored, then according to Konoha's regulations, both should be invited to the Police Force for tea. In the end, their clan heads would come retrieve them and sign letters of guarantee.
This method had been proposed by Uchiha Yato. As a member of the Uchiha Clan, he naturally wanted the Uchiha to improve, and the still-living Second Hokage had approved of it at the time.
If they favored the Sarutobi Clan, it would strain the relationship between Konoha's two great dojutsu clans. Though the impact had only been caused by two people, some resentment would inevitably remain.
If they favored the Hyuga Clan, it would make the Hokage's faction dislike the Uchiha Clan even more. The Uchiha Clan was already caught between a rock and a hard place after taking charge of the Police Force.
That left this unlucky member of the Uchiha Police Force in a difficult position.
In a dark corner, Ryoma Aburame, secretly monitoring everything, frowned deeply as frustration and irritation rose within him.
He had planned this for a long time. He had specifically investigated and confirmed that Uchiha Yato would be unable to obtain any low-rank missions today. At the same time, he had painstakingly found two men of great importance with powerful clans behind them, then cleverly provoked a conflict between them.
According to his original plan, Uchiha Yato, as a member of the Uchiha Clan, would surely step forward without hesitation and assume the Police Force's responsibility for handling the dispute.
Yet what he had never expected was that, at this critical moment, Police Force members who happened to be patrolling nearby would suddenly appear and completely disrupt the situation.
Watching the difficult situation he had painstakingly set up get interrupted by these unexpected Police Force members, how could Ryoma Aburame not be furious?
He glared through gritted teeth at the Police Force members who had ruined his plan, silently cursing this sudden twist of events.
At the same time, he hoped Uchiha Yato would enter this predicament as well. As long as Uchiha Yato joined his setup, his efforts would not have been wasted.
This Police Force member was none other than their old friend—Uchiha Lian.
After a brief moment of thought, Uchiha Lian made his decision. He would take both men back to the Police Force and hand them over to the captain.
Upon hearing they were going to the Police Force, both men grew somewhat nervous.
Though only two or three years had passed, after being influenced by Konoha's F4, people now held a rather poor impression of the Police Force.
It was somewhat better for ninja clan members and ninja themselves, but for civilians or members of ninja clans without ninja talent, this place was practically a real-life palace of the King of Hell.
Those with weaker nerves were terrified just hearing the word Sharingan.
Although it was a sound decision, it might also cause both the Hyuga Clan and the Sarutobi Clan to hold a grudge against the Uchiha.
Uchiha Yato, who had been watching this unfold, could no longer sit still and stepped forward directly.
"Isn't that Lian?"
"What's going on here?"
When Uchiha Yato appeared, all three people present became a little flustered.
Uchiha Lian knew especially well how destructive Uchiha Yato could be, so he was extremely alarmed.
The other two had both been warned by their elders never to have anything to do with the Uchiha.
And if they did cross paths with the Uchiha, they were absolutely not to cross paths with Uchiha Yato.
This man was the reincarnation of a jinx. Wherever he was, a storm was sure to follow.
What Uchiha Yato said next brightened Uchiha Lian's eyes somewhat, but the other two looked as if they were about to cry.
It was clear that Uchiha Yato's formidable reputation had already spread among the ninja clans.
"Lian, you don't need to handle this any further."
"If there's a problem to solve, leave it to me. That way, they won't say you're incompetent."
