Toru suddenly regained the memories of his past life one night, along with the reason he had come to this world.

"So it was the out-of-control Limitless that brought me to another world."

That also explained his amnesia: his soul had been damaged while crossing between worlds.

Now that he had recovered his memories, it was presumably because his soul had healed.

"Then doesn't that mean..." Toru suddenly thought of something and immediately waved his hand.

As though by reflex, his brain activated the technique from his previous life—the Limitless Technique.

Toru went to the bathroom, stood beneath the showerhead, and turned on the tap. Water came pouring down.

The droplets gathered into streams along the air around Toru's body and slid away, yet they could not touch him at all.

However, at the Ninja Academy, Toru had studied mathematics and learned the mathematical concept of infinity. His understanding of Limitless was therefore clearer than it had been in his previous life.

The Limitless Technique itself caused all objects approaching its user to converge infinitely without ever truly making contact.

Anything attempting to touch its user would slow down more and more until it approached a complete stop.

That was the source of the power of stopping.

By strengthening this tendency to approach, one could obtain negative infinity and thus generate immense attraction.

That was the origin of Technique Lapse: Blue.

Technique Reversal was somewhat more complicated.

To master Technique Reversal, one first had to learn the Reverse Cursed Technique.

Though the two sounded extremely similar, they were actually entirely different kinds of abilities.

As everyone knew, Cursed Energy was cursed power generated by negative emotions such as resentment and sorrow, making it a form of negative energy.

This negative energy could produce all sorts of effects, but it could not heal injuries.

That was because healing injuries conflicted with the nature of negative energy.

Therefore, one had to use a method akin to two negatives making a positive to convert Cursed Energy, a negative energy, into positive energy. This process was called the Reverse Cursed Technique.

That was why the Reverse Cursed Technique could heal injuries.

It sounded simple, but the Reverse Cursed Technique was actually extremely difficult, so those who mastered it had always been few and far between.

By infusing the positive energy produced by the Reverse Cursed Technique into a technique, one could achieve the effect of Technique Reversal.

Technique Reversal: Red of the Limitless Technique transformed the negative infinity of negative energy into the positive infinity of positive energy.

Its effect thus changed from attraction to repulsion.

After testing it, Toru successfully used the Limitless Technique in the world of Naruto.

However, he could only use its basic application. He still could not use either Blue or Red.

Even so, Toru was quite satisfied. At the very least, he was stronger in this life than he had been at the same age in his previous one.

Toru then returned to bed and went back to sleep.

The next day.

Shikaku appeared outside Toru's door early in the morning.

Toru had just finished washing up. The moment he sensed Shikaku, he opened the door.

Shikaku's hand hung before the door for a moment before he lowered it with a smile. "There's a mission today. Gather at the village entrance in half an hour."

Toru readily agreed, and Shikaku turned and left.

After Toru closed the door, Shikaku stopped and looked back. Toru opened the door again and asked, "Is there anything else?"

Shikaku shook his head and left.

As expected, this kid is incredibly perceptive. Is it related to those eyes? They're just right for this mission.

Half an hour later, at Konoha's main gate.

Shikaku said to Toru, Kurenai, and Asuma, "This mission is to investigate the terrain of the Land of Waves. It's a request from a geologist in the Land of Fire."

"It's a C-rank mission. I happen to be free this time, so I'll accompany you."

Asuma crossed his arms and teased, "I almost forgot we even had a teacher."

Shikaku waved him off. "Don't be sarcastic. I was so busy before because your dad kept assigning me missions."

"Put in a good word for me with your dad later and ask him to assign me fewer missions."

"I'd be happy to do these boring low-rank missions with you. At least we won't run into danger. I don't want my wife to become a widow."

Asuma apparently did not have a good relationship with his father, so he did not respond to Shikaku.

Kurenai broke the silence then and asked expectantly, "What's the Land of Waves like? It's my first time leaving the country for a mission!"

"It's just a tiny island, isolated overseas for years and dirt poor," Shikaku answered truthfully.

Yuhi Kurenai looked somewhat disappointed and complained, "Is that so? That geologist is really boring. What's there to investigate in a country like that?"

Shikaku explained seriously, "That's why it's only a C-rank mission. If we were investigating the terrain of the Land of Fire, it would probably take several years. That would definitely be an A-rank mission."

Yuhi Kurenai nodded, already having no expectations for this mission.

However, Toru felt a few doubts arise in his heart.

He did not quite believe what Shikaku had said.

Judging from the fact that Shikaku had sought them out so early in the morning, this mission was not simple.

If it were merely a simple C-rank mission, Shikaku, with his lazy personality and aversion to trouble, would never have gathered the three of them so early.

Moreover, with localized war already breaking out, a jonin was extremely valuable. Why would one accompany them to some small country for such a boring mission?

There must be something else going on.

Meanwhile, on the coast of the Land of Waves, a small boat had just docked.

Four people disembarked from the boat—three men and one woman. The girl was clearly quite young.

The girl had beautiful reddish-brown hair, emerald-green eyes, and an adorable appearance.

The three men, on the other hand, looked as though they treated the girl as their superior.

The girl stretched lazily, loosening up her body before turning her head and saying, "Jonin Ao, I'm going to play for a while."

Before the jonin named Ao could respond, the two brown-haired ninja beside him reached out to stop her. "Young miss, this isn't like the village. There could be danger here."

The girl frowned. "What danger could there be? Everyone on the island is one of ours now. It's not like Konoha could kidnap me."

"I wouldn't mind being kidnapped, as long as a handsome guy comes to do it."

The two ninja were about to say more when the girl tossed her head, sending her long hair flying behind her.

"Alright, alright. I won't go too far."

With that, the girl took off running, leaving the three behind.

The jonin named Ao had short blue hair gathered into sharp points, with talisman-like earrings hanging from his ears.

The forehead protector on his brow was completely different from Konoha's, bearing four wavy lines symbolizing water mist.

It was the emblem of Kirigakure in the Land of Water.
