Xiao Wu hugged her knees, burying her face in them. Her shoulders shook, and she cried so hard her whole body trembled.
Her mother was only a few dozen meters away.
She could see her, hear her, and even smell that familiar, faint fragrance of grass and trees buried deep in her memories.
But she could not go over and acknowledge her, could not even call her Mom, could not say a single word.
Xiao Wu cried her heart out.
Yang Xing sighed helplessly beside her.
"You little fool. You were far too impatient."
Xiao Wu's shoulders were still shaking. She could not lift her head.
"The moment you saw your mother, you charged straight toward her without even asking your master whether you could meet her, or how."
There was a touch of helplessness in his tone, but no real harshness.
"I hadn't even finished speaking. Naturally, I brought you here because I had a way for you two to meet."
Her sobbing stopped short.
Xiao Wu's shoulders stopped shaking.
She jerked her head up, her face streaked with tears, the tip of her nose bright red, and her eyelashes covered in droplets. Both hands hastily wiped at her face, only making more of a mess. She tilted her head back to look at Yang Xing, her voice still trembling.
"Really?"
Yang Xing nodded and smiled.
"Since your present self and your past self can't meet, isn't the solution perfectly simple?"
Xiao Wu stared blankly at him.
"I just have to take your past self away."
He said it as casually as if he were discussing what to have for dinner.
"I'll take your younger self out for a little stroll, then remove the barrier. Go see your mother."
Xiao Wu scrambled up from the ground. Dirt and fallen
