Background / History
Tang San’s soul came from another world, where he was an abandoned infant admitted as an exceptional case into the Tang Sect’s Outer Sect. Although the sect gave him shelter, cultivation resources, and a place among its disciples, he was barred from the Inner Sect because he was not a bloodline member. 76
From ages ten to thirteen, Tang San repeatedly infiltrated the Inner Sect Scripture Pavilion, evaded its restrictions and guards, and memorized its core secret arts. After stealing the techniques, he jumped from a cliff and was reborn in the Douluo Continent. The Tang Sect later recorded him as a traitor and tightened its Scripture Pavilion rules in response. 76 77
In the Douluo Continent, Tang San studied under Yu Xiaogang at Shrek Academy. He initially trusted Yu Xiaogang’s soul-ring theories, but the Heavenly Curtain’s revelations—particularly the possibility of thousand-year first soul rings and evolving soul rings—made him question whether his teacher had limited his potential. 4 12 13
The Sky Curtain later shows Tang San clearing the Sea God’s Nine Trials and succeeding Poseidon as Sea God. Poseidon leaves the God Realm to pursue life beyond it, entrusting the divine position to Tang San and revealing that he had long known Tang San was a transmigrator. 76
Appearance
Tang San is shown as a blue-haired youth during his Shrek Academy years. After completing the Sea God’s Nine Trials, his pupils become pure gold. 76
- Uses Purple Demon Eyes, which can be pushed to their limit for enhanced sight and perception. 1 12
- Is associated with Blue Silver Grass in his tournament-era combat. 76
- Wields blue-gold Sea God divine power after inheriting Poseidon’s position. 76 78
- Later bears intertwined red and blue divine radiance after receiving the Asura God’s inheritance. 104
Personality
Tang San takes great pride in the techniques carried over from his past life, especially the Mysterious Heaven Skill, Purple Demon Eyes, and Tang Sect hidden weapons. The appearance of the Heavenly Curtain unsettles this confidence: he recognizes that his arts are insignificant beside powers capable of overturning established cultivation laws. 1 5 14
He is observant and willing to challenge accepted doctrine when evidence contradicts it. After seeing the alchemy furnace martial soul’s rings change in quality, he privately suspects that soul-ring age is not fixed despite Yu Xiaogang’s furious rejection of the idea. 12
His past-life actions show patience, calculation, and ambition. He spent three years systematically stealing Inner Sect secret arts, then used death and transmigration to escape the consequences. 77 He also displays strong resentment over opportunities he believes Yu Xiaogang’s theories denied him, particularly the possibility of obtaining a stronger first soul ring. 13
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses twin martial souls, a trait he considers evidence of his exceptional talent. One is shown to be Blue Silver Grass. 4 76
- Uses Blue Silver Grass extensively in the Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament. 76
- His combat foundation is stated to depend heavily on secret arts from his previous life rather than martial soul talent alone. 77
Mysterious Heaven Skill
A cultivation art brought from Tang San’s past-life Tang Sect. Its internal energy has tempered his body and is central to his assessment that he could have absorbed a stronger first soul ring. 4 13
- Strengthens his body through long-term cultivation. 13
- Is compatible with Sea God divine power, which can be guided through the technique to raise a mortal’s cultivation. 78
- Could not compare, in Tang San’s view, to the resources and cultivation environment of the Endless Fire Domain. 14
Purple Demon Eyes
An Inner Sect secret art stolen from the Tang Sect’s Scripture Pavilion. 76
- Enhances vision and perception; Tang San uses it at full capacity to examine the Heavenly Curtain. 1 12
- Greatly strengthens spiritual power, reportedly making it more than ten times stronger than that of his peers by age ten. 77
- Was originally recorded as part of the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record. 76
Hidden Weapons and Tang Sect Techniques
Tang San’s hidden-weapon methods, close-range mechanisms, and force-redirection techniques originate from stolen Tang Sect Inner Sect manuals. More than eighty percent of his Douluo Continent combat system is attributed to these arts. 77
- Hundred Solutions to Hidden Weapons · Close-Range Mechanisms — source of his sleeve-arrow technique. 77
- Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — redirects and dissipates force to overcome stronger opponents. 77
- Uses hidden weapons alongside Blue Silver Grass during the elite academy tournament. 76
- His father and uncle dismiss these hidden weapons as inferior to Tang Potian’s soul-tool innovations. 46
Sea God Power
After completing the Sea God’s Nine Trials, Tang San inherits Poseidon’s divine position and receives Sea God power. 76
- Wields the Sea God’s Trident. 76 104
- Can use Sea God divine power to increase a mortal’s cultivation; he raises Yu Xiaogang to level 30 during a single return to the mortal realm. 78
- Is shown empowering Xiao Wu, Dai Mubai, Ning Rongrong, and other close associates after becoming a god. 78
Asura God Inheritance
The Asura God chooses Tang San as a successor alongside the Sea God, ultimately merging both powers within him. 102 104
- Wields the Asura Divine Sword. 104
- Combines red Asura power and blue Sea God power into a world-destroying divine storm. 104
- Defeats Qian Renxue and Bibi Dong in the projected divine battle before an outside force strips their divine positions. 104
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Sleeve arrows — close-range hidden weapons based on Hundred Solutions to Hidden Weapons. 77
- Sea God’s Trident — Poseidon’s divine weapon, used by Tang San after his ascension. 76 104
- Asura Divine Sword — weapon manifested through the Asura God’s inheritance. 104
Relationships
- Tang Hao — father; is horrified by the revelation that Tang San stole his past-life sect’s secret arts and questions whether his son ever held similar thoughts toward the Clear Sky Sect. 27 77
- Yu Xiaogang — teacher and master at Shrek Academy. Tang San initially defends him, but increasingly doubts his theories; after becoming Sea God, Tang San raises Yu Xiaogang only to level 30 and does not visit him again. 4 12 29 78
- Poseidon — predecessor as Sea God and senior brother; reveals Tang San’s transmigrator identity and leaves the Sea God position to him. 76
- Qian Renxue — Angel God adversary. One projected future shows her executing Tang San for violating Divine Realm laws, while another shows Tang San defeating her after gaining the Asura God’s inheritance. 78 79 104
- Xiao Wu — Shrek companion and later recipient of godhood through Tang San’s arrangements. 76 78
- Dai Mubai, Oscar, Ma Hongjun, Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing — Shrek companions who witness Tang San’s Sea God ascension; several later receive divine-position opportunities or cultivation priority from him. 76 78
Story Role / Major Arcs
Revelation of Yu Xiaogang’s Errors
Tang San witnesses the Heavenly Curtain shatter the theories he had trusted. He becomes convinced that Yu Xiaogang’s soul-ring limits may have cost him a stronger first soul ring and begins reassessing his teacher’s authority. 4 12 13
Exposure of His Past Life
Poseidon publicly identifies Tang San as a transmigrator and displays his past as an Outer Sect disciple of another world’s Tang Sect. The revelation establishes that his Purple Demon Eyes, hidden weapons, and most of his combat system were built from stolen Inner Sect arts. 76 77
Sea God Succession
Tang San completes the Sea God’s Nine Trials, inherits Poseidon’s divine position, and becomes the Sea God. He later uses his divine authority to elevate friends and relatives while leaving Yu Xiaogang with only a level-30 breakthrough. 76 78
Divine Realm Conflict
Tang San’s distribution of divine positions to relatives and allies violates Divine Realm laws, leading to a projected execution by Qian Renxue. He later receives the Asura God’s inheritance as well, becoming the vessel of two divine powers and defeating Qian Renxue and Bibi Dong in a separate projected divine confrontation. 78 79 104
