Background

Li Yan was a twenty-six-year-old office worker who died from overwork and reincarnated as Uchiha En. He retained knowledge of the ninja world’s future, including the Nine-Tails attack, the Uchiha massacre, Pain’s assault on Konoha, and the Fourth Shinobi World War. 1

En’s parents, Uchiha Xiao Ye and Uchiha Ruyan, died on a mission when he was nine. The clan gave him a meager pension and left him in a dilapidated shack at the edge of the Uchiha compound. He entered the Ninja Academy with exceptionally poor chakra aptitude, failed the Clone Technique entrance test, and became a frequent target of ridicule. 1 7

Although he excelled in theory, En remained near the bottom in practical classes. Uchiha Yashiro and his followers bullied him for months, culminating in an assault at the Nanga River. Near drowning awakened En’s Magma-Magma Fruit, permanently changing his standing within both the clan and Konoha. 2

At the Academy, En was a slight, unaccompanied orphan with messy black hair that concealed his left eye, a dark right eye, faded clean clothes, and badly worn ninja shoes. 1

He is politically perceptive and treats appearances as tools. He accepts Fugaku’s conditions for joining ANBU while privately intending to decide for himself what intelligence to share, and he deliberately wears ragged clothing when approaching Hiruzen to present himself as an unaffiliated orphan rather than an Uchiha agent. 17

In battle, En is decisive and ruthless toward hostile combatants. He interrogates enemies for intelligence when useful, kills those who remain a threat, and uses fear as a deterrent against both foreign enemies and Uchiha radicals. 29 48 53

After securing Fugaku’s consent and Hiruzen’s authorization, En enters ANBU under the codename Lava. His sensory abilities make him indispensable in the field, while his Magma Release establishes him as a decisive combatant against Hidden Sound, Iwagakure, and Amegakure forces. 17 27 29 48

He later destroys roughly seventy-three members of Iwagakure’s Ninth Battalion by himself, though he intentionally leaves survivors to report the outcome. The feat earns him the “Hundred-Man Slayer” achievement and makes Ōnoki warn Kitsuchi to flee if he encounters En. 63

Conflict with Danzō and Konoha’s Elders

Danzō views En’s unknown power as both an asset and a threat, escalating surveillance before arranging intelligence leaks that leave him trapped at Wind-Cry Canyon. En survives, returns with proof of Root’s involvement, and confronts the Konoha leadership directly. 5 94
